I posted about our cat in January - my question was did you think she is elderly or anxious. A few things have happened since then so we are quite certain she is old... and she's making us anxious.

She dropped a whole lot of weight really quickly. She was overweight for awhile there, so we had her on obesity management biscuits, and was losing steadily, but then last month she dropped a lot of weight and started vomiting as well. I took her to the vet, who gave her a shot of antibiotics in case it was just gastro, but he said if she didn't improve to bring her back for blood tests. She's getting thinner, despite being on a new diet, and the last couple of days she just looks so old and creaky. The soonest the vet can see her is Monday. The tests will be for thyroid issues, kidney failure (she's not drinking heaps of water though so I doubt it is that) or, euphemistically, "other serious internal issues". By which I assume he means cancer.

I'm trying to stay positive but am so sad to think that my girl is on her way out.

I now feel like I should have posted this in the boohoo room as I'm sitting here tearing up, but I just wonder if anyone has some good news stories about old pets having a second wind and living til they're 25. Just for a little hope to see me through til Monday?
