Are you sure it is a Brindle Python and on license. Brindle Pythons are not an Australian species and your not meant to have them.

Yes, it's definately a Brindle Python and he has a licence, he bought it from a pet shop last week.

Okay, just to let you know it is an exotic species generally a Burmese python (it will grow very big) and they call it that because of its markings which your not allowed to own in Australia. I don't know what they have put in your sons licence though because if it says Brindle python then when he sends it back in for renewal they will know he has an exotic which they can then seize so I would check it out so that your son does not risk having it taken off him. If it is a Brindle then I would forgo the licence.

My other thought is that you he may have a childrens or stimsons python, these are Australian species (will grow no bigger then 4ft) and because of the types of markings it has they are calling it a brindle python. We breed Stimsons and we have a them from all different areas of Australia so they all have there own names.

Thank you so much for your information, his licence is a Basic Wildlife Licence, doesn't state on it what type of snake he has. I'll check with DS later, I do remember the guy in the pet shop telling him his snake would grow to about 8ft, it is already around 3ft now.

Bredlis are fantastic, that was my hubbys first python he he was young embrace your new pet lol they are great

DD2s dad has just regimes a pair of 3yr old Bredlis - he got them when they were 18mths old and hated him with a passion. It didn't matter what he did with them they but him everytime he handled them.

Turns out they hadn't been handled enough when they were younger

He was gutted as he's kept snakes for 15yrs and never had any problems with his others.
