    I think it would upset the birthday child too, find another way to stop the behaviour if you can.

    When I calmed down and thought about it, it is unfair on the birthday child and their parent. I know in our family birthdays are a big deal, and I'd be upset for my children if one of their little friends said they were coming then went back on that. Thanks for your opinions

    It's also probably better for your consequences to be related to the behaviour if possible. That way kids get the connection a bit better... Not always easy, but if you can try it will probably help

    its hard when you are frustrated and they just don't see to get it!
