Hi Tess,
As Danni said I had a stitch put in with my 3rd pregnacy after losing 2 babys 17 -20 weeks.
It took another opinion from a high risk specialist even though my second pregnancy they knew my cervix wasnt great, and monitored me thru but it was the difference between Monday it was fine Tuesday night my waters had broken...I did manage to keep her in for another 2 weeks with my head tilted to the floor and antibotics but it wasnt sucessful so with my 3rd pregnancy it was decided to have a cerledge.
As far as intervention I didnt see my obst till 10 weeks then he scheduled me for surgery at 13 weeks. I had to have an ultrasound done the morning of to confirm that she was still viable and the cervix was ok to stitch.
General anaesetic had the option of spinal block surgery was fine no pain alittle bleeding post but that all settled down 4 days. I stayed in bed overnight at hospital and then went to my parents for a week and then moved back home to DH. I finished work then mind you I was pananoid and did bedrest till 35 weeks. I had ultrasounds alot...sometimes weekly sometimes forntightly just to check the cervix wasnt shortening. Prev had shortened to 1.6cm it stayed above 5cm witht the stitch in
I elected a c-sect the vivid painful memories from the previous births was too much and I had to get to the hospital over 1 hr away.
My obst rules were:
Stickly no intimate contact nothingGood for me not so great for DH
No straining with no 2's
No lifting anything!
There are stitches and there are GOOD stitches
I look back now I got to experience everything with this pregnancy from every kick to a hickups they was never a moment I thought I wish she would stop.
I wish you all the best Tess..find someone who does it often rather than just an obst pref a multiples doctor as it is usually more common in those pregnancys...and as for the sucess!
She is asleep in her room awaiting her second birthday next week
Bec
I'm sorry for you loss of Thomas it is just not fair to lose them this late

Good for me not so great for DH
