Tildy it's hard waiting isn't it? I was 14 days post dates with my first and 10 days post dates with my third. I had lots of prelabour with both. So I was always on high alert - wondering: "is this it"??? :wall:

Yes, it's definitely hard waiting! Physically and mentally I get noticably worse every day. I even notice that I'm reacting to certain things just like I did after losing Beiron -- I see a TV show where a woman has just given birth and get a familiar twinge of depression and think "Why won't that ever be me?" Strange, but true.
We were in the hospital Monday to get checked out because I was having chest pains, wheezing and numbness in my left hand. I knew that these would be explained by my nasty cold and the pregnancy carpal-tunnel thing, but I they told me to come in and I didn't argue -- I figured, heck, they'll check on the baby. :) The doc said my cold could be delaying labor. It turns out I was already "2 fingers" dilated and she swept my membranes. But still, no labor yet, although now I'm feeling lots of SOMETHING, slightly painful, especially in the cervix area, and realize I've been feeling it for about a week. But if these are contractions, they're certainly not behaving themselves, as they're sort of like lasting 2 seconds and coming once every 10 seconds for an hour and I couldn't say where they begin or end...
So it's looking super likely that, after our induction assessment tomorrow at 10am, I will be induced by water breaking/contraction IV-drip on Friday morning at 7:15, and see what it's like to fight through a long and intense induced labor while fighting a nasty head and chest cold! :rolleyes: I told DH I wasn't scared before but the induction sort of makes it scary. I figured I would have to try to explain, but he got it right away: "Yeah, I suppose it's like, instead of thinking you'll die suddenly and without warning, having a date set for your execution." Ha!
Tildy, It sounds like your bub will be arriving very soon then! I will keep my fingers crossed that you will already be in active labor when you go in for your assessment. Maybe you are one of those lucky ones that don't feel your contractions until you are 6 or 7cm dialated.
I have already talked to my doctor about the possibility that I will just have a c-section. I know for a fact that I will not be able to hold myself together waiting. He likes the idea too because it will allow me to stop the blood thinners at the right time. He said that he really didn't want me to stop them too early and he doesn't want me to take them and then go into labor.

Laney, glad to hear bubby is growing nice and big. good luck with the C-section if that's what you decide. Did your doctor mention induction? My sister was on blood thinners to full term and it's common to stop the 24 hours before induction. The only problem with c-sections is they can complicate future pregnancies, especially if you want more than one or two more. Anyway, most important thing is to have your son safely obviously.
We're heading to Jindabyne for Alec's brother's wedding tomorrow, I have soooo much to pack for Henry, such an effort!! He's a cutie pie though.

The assessment today showed that I was 3 cm dilated and very soft and stretchy. "I can stretch it out to about 5 cm" she said, and that felt super weird. She said "Ooh, sorry I'm being mean," but I actually laughed because it kind of tickled like. So induction by water breakage and then possibly oxytocin drip tomorrow morning. Now I can definitely feel that there are weak contractions, even if they're still vague, and I could see them on the monitor they did today. I had perhaps 4 during the half hour they were monitoring.
So the next thing you guys will probably hear from me is a birth announcement, even if it might take a couple days. :)

And I am very happy to announce that our little princess arrived safe and sound on the day of my stitch removal...
Kaitlyn James, arrived 14 April 2009 at 5.04pm. 2.825 kgs/6lb 3, 47 cm long.
Labour lasted about 4 and a bit hours after my waters were broken and the drip started. The stitch was cut but unable to be removed - ob thinks it came away sometime during the labour as he could find no trace of it afterwards.
We are now home and doing well. BF is happening and she sleeps well. DH and I are completely and utterly in love...

Benjamin Liam Ceangailte Paulsson was born at 18:14 on April 17 after a VERY easily induced labor. My water was broken at 10:30 am, at which point contractions immediately came at a rate of 4 every 10 minutes with very little pain relief in between. By 15:30 I was told that I was already 10 cm open and could clearly feel the pushing stage beginning. By 17:30 they said Benny's heart rate was showing distress and I was thereafter tortured by an extra midwife putting all her weight on the top of my stomach as I pushed -- which you can imagine I did with all my might after hearing "danger!" By 18:14 they snipped me a bit to get him out.
They laid him there on the bed at my feet, and I just sat and hyper-ventilated, wide-eyed, staring in shock -- I was so focused on "God, let this end soon!" that I had totally forgotten why we were there and HOW it would end! We've been so focused on getting through the pregnancy successfully that every second since he came out has been surreal and a little hard to digest, haha! Even if the results of almost 3 hours of pushing are stitches, super hemmoroids, a catheter I get to schlep home with me, and amazing training pain from head to toe, I'm completely in awe-struck love.
Congratulations Jo and Tildy! I have tears of joy for you! You have both been through so much and now, finally you have your bubs in your arms...just the best best news! Lots of Love and cuddles ...Exxx

Just wanted to say Tildy that I can totally identify with that surreal feeling and how you said. I found that too and when pushing I was so focussed on that that my doctor had to remind/order me to look down and when I did, there was her head popped out there. It was a bit of a shock and reminded me why I was there in the first place! :lol::
I had totally forgotten why we were there and HOW it would end!
Got a lot of respect for you with all that pushing and after effects! I was very lucky in comparison - don't think I pushed longer for half an hour all up and only had a small tear requiring a couple of stitches. Even though we all know how worth it is, I hope you are on the mend soon so you can get about a bit more comfortably.

Hi ladies - congrats on the safe arrivals of more gorgeous bubs in this thread. It's always such a relief and such joy to hear of new arrivals after what we have lost and gone through.
I'm peeking around the corner into this thread as I got a positive pregnancy result on Friday. First month of trying - and will be due Christmas Day. Not the greatest of timing, but I know it really doesn't matter - I'm really thrilled to be giving Remy a playmate and sibling!
So, will be "cruising" for a while, especially till I have the nt scan - it hasn't really sunk in yet. Watch this space..... :)

Everything has been going well for me. Our little man is still breech, has been for a month or more now. Doesn't look like he really wants to turn. I wanted a c-section anyway.
We started the nursery! It has been fun but very emotional for me.
Wow, I've been so busy that I hadn't thought about how long it'd been since I'd gotten a subscription update from BellyBelly. Hi Laney! Great to hear from you and hear that everything is going well -- aside from bubben being breech of course, but that is a relatively easy problem to accept in "our world".
As far as all the new bubs -- I'm going to be honest. I'm having trouble accepting Benjamin. It's early yet so I don't think I officially have "PPD," and neither am I surprised -- my counselor and I both knew that it was going to be a challenge once Kebab became a flesh and blood baby. I feel like I've been "stuck with someone else's kid," I feel like Lori has been eliminated and been replaced with a milk machine... I admit this because it makes me feel stronger to say "Yes, even though I fought to have my baby, I'm not all bouncy and joyful and over the moon" and be able to be honest about it. I am still convinced that I will love him more than the world if I'm given time and help. Since several months back I've been pre-signed up for a program here that helps select women in the area "bond" with their new babies. I felt a little dumb taking them up on the offer, as it's possible the other moms will be 17 years old or recovering alcoholics or all kinds of other reasons that bring women to the program -- but again, I now feel like it's okay for me to say, hey, I am a person who sometimes needs lots of emotional help and I'm takin' it. ;)
Benjamin looks just like his daddy, I believe, and I can at least say that I think THAT is just beautiful. :)
One thing that no one said to me that I wish they had is that the brand-new baby can nurse so often that you can't get away to pee when you need to and that everyone will just tell you that that's normal. Or rather, they'll say "it's normal for them to eat as often as once even 2 hours" and you say "but he eats once or twice an hour, and for up to a half hour each time!" and they say "Oh, well that's normal, too." ;) Everyone wants to come and visit and I'm like, "I haven't bothered putting a shirt on for 3 days, so perhaps I'm not ready for visitors yet."
Tildy - it took me almost 2 months to accept that DD was here to stay and wouldn't be taken away like Caitlyn. MIL was watching me closely because she recognised the difficulties I was having bonding to her. Now - it is all good. I have the most adorable little girl and she is all mine!!! :D
I don't think it is abnormal to feel the way you do. After a late loss it is often hard to accept that this earth baby is here to stay :hug:

Lori, I totally get where you're coming from... you think you're prepared but the ideas in your head that you've formed are quite different from the actual event... like you hear the term 'put them down' and it implies they will actually sleep once you've done that, when in reality it can be quite different!! The first 3 weeks were really tough for me too, and most of the time I still feel like I'm minding my nephew or something, it just doesn't click that he was inside me, even when he's on the boob. I also think a big part of it is when they're this little they don't interact with you as a parent as opposed to other people, which changes in time obviously. Anyway, good on you for asking for help, it is the brave and responsible thing to do.

Laney - I am so happy to read that you have started setting up the nursery. I know that it is terrifying but good on you for taking this next step. I am so excited for you. You have done an amazing job so far and I know that you will be a very happy mummy in no time. I love watching your ticker move forward. :hug:
Lori - I think it is great that you are doing that program. I agree that it is hard for us mums as we fight and battle to get our babies and then that instant bond doesn't always turn on straight away. And yes breastfeeding is hard. It is in fact the hardest thing I have ever done - no let me correct that...the first 9 weeks of breastfeeding was the hardest thing I have ever done. I was very close to giving up and going to formula and then it all just clicked and I haven't had a problem since. It is exhausting and I felt so cheated when I realised that the timed the feeds from the beginning of the feed. Anna was the same in the first week or so - sitting on my breast nonstop. She did speed up though and her feeds are now only about 10 mins! I am the envy of mothers in my mothers group. Take whatever help and support is offered to you, and say no to visitors if it helps. I found having visitors was hard as I was exhausted and they would then get Anna all revved up and I would be left with an overstimulated and exhausted crying baby. I learnt how to read her signs and would take her back once I thought she had reached her 'friendly' limit. Take care and look after yourself! :hug:
I will have to update my photo gallery of Anna. She will be 6 months soon. Time has flown. She is lovely and laughs and smiles nonstop. She really is a joy.

:D I am all smiles today I have my 12-13 week NT scan, I will get such a good look at bub and my MIL is coming along too which will be a nice experience for her. My DH will get to see bub tonight the place does the images onto a disk for you. It will be the first time since our 8 week ultrasound pictures that he will see bub.
I soooooooooooo cannot wait and I am almost into the 2nd tri YAY

Tildy yay for being brave enough and strong enough to admit it. And yep b/f can take hours. I know at night it seems I have not long put Daniel back into his crib and he is awake wanting to start again. Daytime just seems like one non-stop snack time. I know it will settle down but at the moment between him, a demanding 4 yr old, my dad being sick and put into hospital.. just all seems to be overwhelming right now.

Hi girls - it's been quiet in here.
Jude - I see Steve in 2 weeks, I'll be 9 weeks then, but he's booked up, and sometimes it's good for me to test my patience :rolleyes: I've been feeling very very ordinary, was hoping the avoid that awful nausea, but alas, no!! Oh well, still have heaps to do, and just have to soldier on. Definately pop in for a cuppa when you can.

Hey everyone, had the scan part of the NT test and it was so beautiful. My little bubba in there moving about like crazy, a beautiful healthy 158BPM heartbeat. Maybe they all kind of look the same but my first thought was "gee that looks like Nikita" wrong I know but wow. DH said the same thing when I showed him the dvd. I was straining so hard to see if if I could detect an outer or inner pee pee hole but honestly some parts of the scan it looks girl and other parts of the scan it looks boy. I have the 20 week scan in 6 weeks its a little earlier so will probably find out then BUT I do start my cervix screening in 2 weeks time. It will be done weekly or fortnightly until 24 weeks. He checked my cervix and said it looked good - long and closed it measures approx 6cm so thats good.
Was tested today for thrombophilia (sp?) will be interested to get the results. also had the normal screening ones they do at 8 weeks because Latrobe didn't do them :doh: 8 viles of blood later Pam my path nurse said she was so proud because it was a lot of blood.
So all in all I am elated, been feeling sad because of mothers day but yesterdays scan just lifted my spirits 10 fold. I also splurged a little and brought myself some new perfume - Mark Jacobs Daisy (the new one) oh I love it I haven't loves a perfume like this for years.

I have a doctors appointment tomorrow and so far everything seems to be going fine. Just my mental state that is hard to deal with. We have tried to find out the sex of our bub at last scan but bub had umbilical cord between it's legs so they couldnt tell us.

I just wanted to let everyone know that my c-section is going to be on June 3rd!
I have to start a new blood thinner on Friday. I will take heparin twice a day because it clears out of my system faster. Just in case he decides that he wants to come out before the c-section date!
Laney, woohoo!!! less than 3 weeks, so exciting!!! I hope you do a better job of containing your excitement than I did... I didn't get much sleep leading up, too excited... boy did I regret that afterward haha!!1
Theresa, I was wondering about you!!! You're so far along now... the lead-up to 35 weeks is going to be really difficult for you I'm sure, no magic advice for you I'm afraid. Big hugs, your baby will be in your arms screaming in no time!!
Henry is a pooping and vomiting machine... this morning he did an explosive poo out the side of his freshly changed nappy, weed twice whilst trying to change him (and WHERE does all that pressure come from?? the stream goes so high!!) and spit up everywhere... I have to laugh though, it's all good fun!!! He's asleep in his bouncer now, he looks so angelic when he's asleep.

AFM, I think MS is kicking in... I feel quite light headed if I don't eat at the right times, and I must say this is a very hungry bubba, they woke me up at 2.30 this morning with a growling stomach which wouldn't settle til I got up for a glass of milk :redface:
I have my first US on the 22nd of May which is exciting and daunting all at the same time. :Pray:ing for a HB. We go on holidays for 2 weeks the day after so I would really like some good news to take with me.

Hello to all of you strong ladies. I've just joined this today, and have felt comforted that other women have been through similar things as I have. My grandmother died on Mother's Day, and after her funeral five days later - I started to bleed. I was nine weeks along. I went to my OBGYN who told me that there was no longer a heartbeat present. There was one just a week prior - I was so sad. This is my fifth loss. I do have two beautiful girls; one is 12, and one is 5. After my first daughter came so easily, I tried again two years later only to suffer an ectopic, and two miscarriages a year after that. Then came my second daughter with the help of oral and vaginal progesterone up until the 13 week of pregnancy. I had another miscarriage 2 years ago, and now this one. I really don't understand it all. I get pregnant so easily, but can't keep them after the 9th week. I do so want more children - but I'm so afraid! This D & C that I had this time was really rough and painful. I'm getting older now (35), and am wondering if I should just quit. Maybe I should adopt? Is God trying to tell me something? Any advise or help would be so greatly appreciated.

I am still ticking along, having weekly scans of the cervix which is still long and closed and I am hoping it stays that way. I saw a BH conraction on my last US the specialist was not worried about it and said it wasn't uncommon to see them at 14 weeks as thats when they actually start they are just too small to see. I will be mentioning it to my Ob though when I see him on thurs. I am starting maternity leave early and will be finishing up in less than 15 weeks time I soooo cannot wait.
