    Hello,

This will be a 'me' post. I woke up last night vomiting & it has lasted until 10:30am this morning (so far!), I also have diarrhea. I spoke to a midwife who said that the baby should be fine because he/she is fully formed, but the key thing is to keep hydrated, and if it goes on for 24-hrs to go to the hospital as they'll need to put a drip in. Has anyone had any experience with this type of thing? If it hasn't stopped by the time my DH is home, I'm going to get him to drive me to the hosp to check me & bubs. Not good, feeling very worried.

Hi Berry, I haven't had that myself, but gastro doesn't hurt babies (except listeria which is rare and you only get if you've eaten things on the banned list!). Still, it's natural to be anxious when we've lost babies already - you should definitely pop down to the hospital if you are worried.

    xx Bec.

    Hi Megan,

Oh you poor love! I hope you're feeling better soon hun, but try not to worry too much. Like Bec said gastro is not dangerous to bubs, but try to keep up with the fluids. It's so easy to pick up stuff like this ! A few of my preggie friends have had gastro and you just have to wait for it to pass unfortunately. It's good that you've rung the midwife as now you know what to do it if the bug keeps going (which I hope it doesn't!).
Please don't stress hun, I know it's so easy to do in our cases, but be assured it's just a bug and it will pass soon

    Big hugs

    Hello,

I ended up going to the hospital last night and they checked the baby and said that everything looked fine, the heartbeat was normal and he/she was moving around. I ended up having two bags of fluid and am feeling much better today, a little queasy & tired. I am seeing my doctor this afternoon for more blood tests & will ask more questions. I didn't eat anything on the banned list, but I can't help but worry that I may have eaten something with listeria or salmonella. Will double check with the doctor, but the hospital didn't seem too worried about the baby. Thanks for your messages Beata & Bec.

Quick update. My Dr thinks it was most likely a viral infection rather than food poisoning and she said given what I had eaten if it was food poisoning, it certainly wasn't salmonella and highly unlikely to be listeria. She said the most important thing for the baby is not to be dehydrated, and given I wasn't sick for a long period of time & got fluid into me straight way, thinks that everything should be fine. She also checked the baby's heartbeat, so I'm feeling much better that bubs wasn't effected. Very stressful experience!

Berry :hugs: It's VERY worrying. but I'm glad everything is ok and you got onto that water quick smart.

I had a 48 hour stomach bug about amonth and a bit ago. I wasn't spewing though, but I had pooped out everything in my stomach I was down to the acids of my bowel (not pleasant!) I was told the same thing by a midwife. She also said to eat grated apple that had been left for about 20 minutes to go a little bit brown to help sooth the stomach and add something back to it's lining - which I found to be refreshing as well.

Sorry I didn't see your post early otherwise I would have suggested it for you and hopefully put your mind at ease (even a little!)

    Hi Girls,

Megan, I'm so happy everything turned out OK. As long as bubs is OK that's great. What a scare! Take it easy hun and rest up.
