Had a D&C last week and now pregnant!

I had a D&C last week as I had two cycles in which I bleed for a long time and the OB wanted to have a look and take a sample, and now I am pregnant, which means I was pregnant before the operation!!
Went to the GP for blood test yesterday to confirm and she took it all very seriously and spoke to my OB and they gave me blood tests and sent me for internal scans as they were worried that I may have had an ectopic pregnancy. Thankfully they could see development in the womb and not the tube. Though I am still in very early stages and there is no heart beat yet, but my Hcg levels were 7000 which was good.
Ahh drama. So what must have happened is that the egg etc was in the tube coming down when I had my op, so it didnt get cleaned out. So last night I thought all the drama and doctors appointments were over for a lottle while and I could enjoy being pregnant, but no, today I bled so have to go back out to the OB tomorrow!! Ahhh.
    A little nervous!
Anyone else had an D&C to find out they were pregnant before hand?

Not me but my friend had fibroids removed and was still feeling unwell for a while afterwards and it turned out she was JUST pregnant when they operated. She was a bit concerned but had a healthy baby girl 4 months ago.

    Good luck!!!!

Fingers crossed!! I'm sure it will all be fine.

Can I ask a question? Did they do a pregnancy test before the D & C? Or was it to early to detect the pregnancy?

We were told to make sure we took precautions after AF and before any of my ops just so that there was no chance of a pregnancy.

I hope it all goes fine at the OB tomorrow.

    Thank you girls
Havent worked out how to reply individually!
Thrilled that your friend had a healthy birth.
In regards to the preg test beforehand, I actually believe my OB should have taken one. It was all very rushed with me seeing him on the Monday for the first time and have the op on the Tuesday. I told him I had a preg test with my last cycle at the GP who was trying to diagnose the problem. For some reason he didnt think he needed to do another and I really didnt think that I was preg, so I didnt push it. I was just thrilled to be having an D&C so that I could be tested and find out if there were any issues. probably should have been clearer with the doctor and explained that I wasnt fully bleeding but it was just spotting for the 16 days. But he could have asked more questions. My results came back normal, and as he mentioned last night, the pregnancy has fixed everything anyway, esp if the extended bleeding was hormonal.

    Thank you everyone!
Well I went back to see my ob the day after bleeding and he seemed to think all was good. He then sent me for another blood test just to check and last night he called with the result. A strong 7000 HCGs which is great! So was able to smile and have a much better weekend.
He still wants to see me again in 2 weeks for another check, scan and blood test. if all goes well after that then he says I can go on to be normally pregnant which would be nice, rather than all these check ups, tests and scans etc.
Wow and I am only at 4 weeks!!
