6 week scan

hi everyone,

I'm scheduled to go in for my first scan tomorrow, at 6 weeks to check for an ectoptic pregnancy (apparently you're at a higher risk if you've had endometriosis).

Has anyone else had a scan this early? What should I expect to be able to see (if anything)?

I also had an early scan at 5 weeks to check for ectopic cause I was high risk due to my endometriosis. At 5 weeks all they could see was the gestational sac. The important thing is that they only want to make sure the sac is in the uterus.

I had a follow-up scan at 8 weeks where I was then able to hear the heartbeat and see a little blob!

I had a scan at 6 weeks. It was amazing as we saw the foetal heartbeat - looked like this tiny little flicker on the screen. The best feeling ever. Good luck & enjoy.

Hi Tanyah, I had my first scan at 7 weeks. I saw a little jelly bean in my uterus and a strong heartbeat of 150bpm. It was like a little blob with a yolk sac beside it. If you have ectopic though, I'm sure you would be getting pain by now, wouldn't you?

I went for a scan at 6w2d. Saw and heard (faint) heartbeat. Although it was reassuring I was too sick to be REALLY jumping around with excitement.

Bindy - I spoke to the lady during my scan and she just 2 weeks before me picked up an ectopic preg at 10 weeks with a girl who had no symptoms. Scary huh!!
