    6w 3d with spotting & cramping

    Hi,

Just wanted to share my feelings at the moment as I am a first time mum and not sure what to expect!

I had been spotting (very light, can only be seen on toilet paper) and had some mild cramping for the previous week, so I went to the doc and he sent me for an u/s. It showed a gestational sac which was implanted in the correct place, and they said they couldn't see inside the sac as it was too early (5w6d). I also had a trans-vaginal exam which showed that the cervix was closed.

Just yesterday I had some more cramping which had been worse than i've had previously and when I went to the toilet I had some red blood come out. It has since stopped and gone back to the light spotting i had previously.

Now im concerned that im going through a miscarrage. My doc wants me to have another u/s to see if the pregnancy is still there. What can you expect to see and a 6 week u/s? Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Oh hun, this is such an anxious time for you.

If it is light spotting etc and you haven't passed any clots etc - it sounds like all is well fingers crossed. It might just be some implantation bleeding - I experienced this in my last pregnancy around the same time, it is very stressful.

Sending you lots of sticky vibes

    Thank you

I haven't seen any clots so i guess its a good sign. I was also wondering if it was an implantation bleed.

I'll just have to wait and see what happens at the ultrasound

Hey grake i know exactly how you feel :hugs:
I had some spotting around 10 weeks which absolutely freaked me out!

If it helps you at all, when i had the m/c with my last pregnancy there was NO mistaking it! There were biig clots with A LOT of blood, heaps of bad period like pains. Sounds to me what you're having is VERY mild compared to that!

I had a scan at 5 weeks 3 days, they did a vaginal scan, and you could see the tiniest flicker of a heart beat - so surely you could see the flicker of a heart beat at 6 weeks ?

I hope all goes well for you

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your good wishes.

I did actually find the forum about bleeding in pregnancy which was good to read (at least i don't feel so alone now). Luckily the spotting has stopped completely, i am only having mild cramps now.

Turns out at this stage everything is ok!
I've had the u/s (which was 6w 5d) and the pregnancy was still there thank god. Everything was progressing as normal, they could see the yolk sac this time which wasn't visible last time. Had the trans-vaginal and the cervix was still high and closed. They didn't see the heartbeat but she said it could maybe still be too early, so I'm scheduled for an u/s at 8w.

Definitely feeling reassured now, but still a little nervous. I just want this 1st trimester to be over!

    Hi everyone,

So I've had my 8w u/s today and it didn't go as well as I'd hoped.

They said that it hadn't grown much since my last u/s and it was still very small. The sonographer wasn't very informative and didn't say very much, but just by watching the screen myself i could still only see the yolk sac.

So I'm off to the docs tomorrow for some blood work to see if my hormone levels are still raised.
