I am only 5 weeks pregnant but have been feeling a bit queezy in my stomach of a morning. Sometimes i dont feel like some of my favourite foods. Lately i have been craving alot of junk food but if i am feeling sick i find that fruit is the best thing for me. So far i have not thrown up or been that bad. Hopefully it stays that way!

I ended up going to the chemist last week and getting the sea sickness bands and they appeared to work! Well for a couple of days anyway!

My nausea has been so bad that my OB prescribed for me some medication, I have only taken it 3 times but it certainly is doing the trick thank goodness. Another thing he said was safe to use in pregnancy and which can help with motion sickness or nightime sickness was Phernagan.

Oh I am feeling for you.
I have just started the quesy feeling myself. I am just 6 weeks preg and have already spent some time in hospital from too much vomiting in need of a drip.

My last preg I was sick for a long time but not too bad. I found eating whatever it was that I felt like often helped. KFC chips did it for me. Ginger was also great. This time I am using sea bands. I only got them yesterday because I was really sick but today am feeling a lot better. Go to the pharmacy and ask for travel sickness bands.

I know what you mean about worrying because you feel a bit better. I do the same thing all the time.

Hope this helps. Hang in there.

    ClareBear,

I know how you feel. I have been sick everyday for almost two weeks now. And although it may not sound like a long time, it feels a whole lot longer! I can vomit anywhere from once a day, to all day long. If I don't feel nauseous; I have a headache.
Maxalon tabs and Stemetil injection both failing to help in anyway.
Doctor wanted me to be admitted into the hospital to have IV fluids, because at that time I couldn't even keep fluids down, but that has eased a little and I can keep them down for a while anyway.
I can't cook, because as soon as I am near food, I am either dry heaving or vomiting.
I am at whits ends. I am sick of feeling sick & sorry for myself. And I feel so selfish for wanting to get better.
Fiance has been great though; he even rubs my back when the vomiting gets bad. Although he does make the slight joke from time to time.
I know it will all be worth it, and take comfort in knowing that m/s is a sign of a healthy baby. But this is the sickest I have EVER been in my life! And it is CRUEL! lol
I am on the count down til Christmas Eve. that is when I will be 12 weeks; and HOPEFULLY it will get better after then...

    Hope you're feeling better soon!

oh you poor dear! This what scares me about TTC next year again, I get hypermisis gravedum with my pregnancies its basically severe vommiting to the point where you cant hold water down and have to be re-hydrated on a drip in hossy.

with my 2nd it wasnt as bad and i swear its coz I kept myself hydrated here are my tips for beating morning sickness:

    1. Eat as soon as your hungry only small ammounts dont delay it otherwise the feeling will get worse if this means getting up at 4 am cause you started to feel vommity and hungry and eating before it gets worse then do it, I had to most mornings.

    2. Hyrdrolyte ice blocks eat them when you feel off colour slowly suck them and take ur time, they are an electrolyte re-hydrant designed for little kids who get gastro, but my pharmascist informed me pregnant women can have them as well and I tell you now - I would not of survived without them!... IF YOUR DEHYDRATED IT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL SICKER AND LIKE THROWING UP MORE.

I hope you feel better soon its hard with morning sickness, cause its not like a 2 day gastro bug its more like a 3 month one! when my hubby got gastro not long ago for 2 days, he said there was nothin worse than feeling like vommiting all day everyday, and now he knows how I felt hehe

Oh Clarebear i could have written that post myself! i cant believe how sick i feel!! my m/s was nothing like this when i had DD!!! and i thought that was bad!! my main problem is when im hungry... if i don't eat straight away.. i feel worse, but, at the same time, i don't feel like eating anything at all, but i have to force something down.

one lady i work with keeps saying 'oh m/s is horrible isnt it, i always used to tell myself to push on and get through it'- I DONT WANT TO PUSH ON! lol i want to go home and curl up in bed! argh! lol

I've been having all day sickness too. so much for the "morning" sickness you get told about huh?? i wish mine was in the morning. i'm about 6 weeks, and i haven't been able to eat anything for the last two weeks, the only thing i've been able to stomach is hokkien noodles smothered in sweet chilli sauce.
but then as of this morning, i've been able to eat everything, and now i can't stop eating. haha. i'm loving it!!!
as for the sickness, i've found a cold bath does the trick, or even just sipping cold water slowly works for me.
My DP's cousin Sarah has been telling me that Maxolin is great, it's an anti-nausea drug and i'm pretty sure it's safe for pregnant women to take. check it with a doctor first and get them to write you a prescription, but that stuff is the best stuff ever!! about ten mins after you take it, no more sick.
And just make sure your other half understands that household duties on your part are null and void, cause for me, any slight movement or scent sent me heaving over the toilet.

So glad I'm not the only one!! I'm thankful for the 'morning' sickness as I had 2 miscarriages where I didn't have those symptoms. So yes I'm thankful, but its horrible!

At about 5/6 weeks I started feeling ill all day, but wasn't sick. At 7 weeks I had a full week off work because I couldn't keep anything down. Feel ill, can't eat, vomit. Fudged my way through the last week at work, and am glad I'm now on holidays. On holidays til the end of 1st trimester, and really hoping it passes by then, otherwise I don't know what I'll do!

I feel sick all day. I have to keep eating otherwise I feel ill, but can't stomach to think about food to buy/prepare it. When I sleep in, or forget to eat I end up vomiting. Christmas was actually great because there was food there to graze on, I could pick and choose, and eat a little bit constantly. But thinking about eating every 2 hours is hard work, but if I don't, I vomit.

Does anyone have any tips on how to work out what to eat, when the thought of food just makes you ill?!?!

DRV, I found that bananas in the morning worked (and still works - yep I'm over 15wks and still crook!), apparently they are a natural antacid which settles the tum

btw - Since finding that bananas seem to work I've only thrown up once in the morning (because of my toothbrush!) and even though I hate throwing up, bananas are much more pleasant (if that's possible) to bring back up!

    Travacalm, Travacalm, Travacalm............

I only started taking it at the start of this week and I got relief within an hour. Until then I felt perpetually sea sick..... not good company for my family during the holidays!!!

It's just ginger, so it's all good. I also have some Blackmores Morning Sickness tablets I got while I was in Adelaide (after buying the Travacalm at my local chemist). They work just as well and have vitamin B6 in them too. Not so "horse tablet" like either.

I was a bit dubious about natural remedies, but my doctor recommended them, so I went with what he said. He is a good doctor (was there when Daniel was born), so I put great stock in his recommendation.

PS: I didn't feel sick at all with my m/c, so this is a very good sign for me - not much fun though.

Poor Krittle. I had a friend who was sick all day, every day for the full 40 weeks too. Not nice.

I can't say I feel your pain, because I couldn't even imagine what that is like. I hope you don't have the same this time. Maybe you're having a boy and things will be completely different......... you never know!!
