    Eating egg yolks?

I have read everywhere that you shouldnt be eating egg yolks. I was talking with people at work about it and when I mentioned it they scoffed and said thats crap and how they had it all through their pregnancies.

    Whats true or false?

I think it's just that they have to be cooked all the way through...so no runny eggs. I missed poached eggs with runny yolks while I was pg! I think it's a salmonella risk (although like the risk of listeria would be fairly low, but still a risk most aren't willing to take..), but as long as the eggs are cooked all the way through they should be fine

Yeah i think it's to do with the cooking, i will only eat them if they are really well done. i'm extremely cautious with what i eat though.

If they have older children they will say that because the rules weren't there when they were pg. because my gaps are so big I have really noticed the differences in each pg. When I had DD1 you could eat whatever you liked LOL

I ate whatever I liked during pregnancy and BF. It is up to you really. I couldn not live without boiled eggs that I can dip bread soldiers in or runny poached eggs..I survived ok. I do totally understand when people are cautious what they eat during pregnancy

Eggs need to be cooked through, no raw or runny eggs, hence the no mayo rule etc!

I think so many of the 'rules' are just cautions to help people. I eat runny eggs and fresh salami and even soft cheeses (which are pastuerised in australia anyway). Fresh sushi is fine too I think, just not the pre-prepared-sits-in-salad-bar-all-day type.

Is up to you how vigilent you want to be. It is a short time (nine months) but I don't like the pathologising of pregnancy, so I take the info and make my own decision, and take responsibity for that!

It's the no runny eggs thing as said above...I err on the side of extremely cautious (as best I can) on these matters - I don't view it as a big deal for 9 months...given it took us 4.5 years and ART to fall pregnant.
