Exercise - what's the most strenuous you can do?

A question for the personal trainers I guess....I do want to make sure my back stays strong and want to know what sort of floor and/or weighted exercise I can do.

I'm not at all interested in yoga.

Pilates is really good for this - and you can do mat work or work with machines... great for pelvic floor and back strength.
I have been doing pilates, resistance work and a lot of swimming.. that has worked well for me.

I'm a personal trainer - there are a lot of things you can do, and the amount of intensity is a very individual thing. Most GPs will recommend you keep your heartrate below around 140bpm, but say you are an athlete and are in training and have been for many years, you can do a lot more than someone who hasn't got a strong exercise history.

A lot of fitball exercises are good, but they are just too hard to explain here! Perhaps hook up with a PT in your area and get some instruction and a program? Its better to be sure you are performing the exercises correctly!

OK, I was thinking of something using a fitball, I have one at home.

What are the going rates for a PT?

It really depends on your location, I'm in sydney, but out in the NW so charge $60 per hour (private studio or outdoors), city trainers I know charge $120 (some only $80 or so)..
