Horrible oily skin... what do you do?

I've always had pimples, so it's nothing new to me. My plan of attack has alawys been to just leave them alone (but I always end up squeezing the ones that were too tempting ).

My skin isn't too bad, a few red pimples here and there but nothing painful and they all go away pretty quickly (though new ones appear just as quickly )... the problem I'm having is oily skin. REALLY oily. I have had oily skin before, but have never found a face wash or cleanser or anything that actually worked for my skin and didn't make things worse. So I usually just wash with water, and it sorted itself out.

Except its so much worse than its ever been, and I really want to get it under control as it feels disgusting.

Oh, and I don't use (...or even own ) any make up or anything, so thats not the problem.

I can never remember whether I should be washing my face often, or if that just makes the problem worse?

Any solutions or suggestions? I am open to anything right now...

If you constantly touch you face you can make the situation worse. For example sweating at the gym and using you hand to wipe the sweat away will transfer germs, it would be better to use a clean towel. If you are going to touch your face wash your hands before and then again after. Wash your face at least 2 times days. Find a product that you like/works for you. See a beautician, thier products can be expensive, but I was an improvemnt in my skin when I used it regularly. Not that I have bad skin though. But currently sporting a deep pimple the size of a golf ball on my chin.

Hi Leasha, I have had the same problem up to now. I have been using for the past 2 months a skin care range called MUKTI I love it, it balances my skin out and there is range for oily skin - its all natural with no chemicals. Hope that helps.

forgot to mention.................. washing your face in the morning and at night is enough, washing more then that is not really doing any good to your skin. BUT you have to start using a skin care range on your face, something natural is always best and smells wonderful too. Also try to stick to products made in Australia beacuse the range is made for out climate - where as products made in France, America tend to be so much more heavy on your skin and you dont want that if your skin is very oily.
Thats why i find the Mukti range is so nice and made in NSW, google it and find website which has loads of info on it.

    Hi Alisia,

I have been using the miessence range (again organic and Australian) which I have found helpful in balancing out skin. I have always washed and moisturised every morning for my rather pitiful skin.
There is a link in the skin care threads for it and you can get help as to best products there for you as well.

You have my sympathy completely hun.

When I've had bad skin all I've used is Witch Hazel which you can usually buy at places like Big W or a chemist. I remember reading somewhere that it's safe during pregnancy (something that most acne products are not, even the natural ones).

    Hi leasha

Firstly, old wives tale says if your skin is worse than normal (more pimples/acne) in the first trimester you are supposed to be having a girl!!!! Mine was with my daughter !!

Secondly, I have found plantatation tea tree oil gel (around $10.00 from chemist) is great and it drys them out very very quickly. You only need a small amount. I would use it at night and find they were a lot smaller the next day.

    Hope this helps.
