The only thing you can really control is what you ear and the amount of exercise you do. Everybody is different and so are the pregnancies.

I too was fit and small when I fell PG. Usually a size 10 but I did wear size 8 clothing quite a bit too. I didn't gain any weight until my 20 week appt but not because I was trying to avoid weight gain, I just didn't gain! My 24/7 nausea until 16 weeks probably didn't help (or helped depending how you look at it, lol!). I loved to exercise but all that came to a halt due to bloating and nausea until 16 weeks then back, groin and pelvic pain took over from about 20 weeks. My OB suggested I stop exercising altogether around 30 weeks as I was in far too much pain.

So despite wanting to eat healthily and exerise during my pregnancy, my body really took over and led the way. That said, I only gained 10kg my entire pregnancy, lost 5 before I left the hospital and was at my pre-pregnancy weight by the time DD was 5 weeks old. I put no effort in, it just happened (possibly the stress of a newborn )

I didn't get one stretch mark but once again, I did nothing to avoid them (I think all the creams are a waste of money). Turns out I was lucky, I have good genes as my mum and sister were the same!

Now to the belly, yeah mine is a bit saggy baggy. I could probably work my butt off and get it back in shape but I personally can't be bothered. It's flat enough, just a bit baggy. I figure another baby will be moving in there in the not too distant future so I'll deal with it once I'm done having kids. Maybe I'll get an ab machine to use after my next baby arrives but my muscles will probably remain split for months again - like with DD - another thing I can't control.

Anyway, you probably get my gist. There are a lot of uncertainties about how your body will react to pregnancy so I'd just eat as healthy as you can, keep up the exercise (within reason) if you can and just go with the flow.

Just be careful with the ab-rocker, you shouldn't really use them during pregnancy, especially once you start to get a decent bump. Your abs will separate during pregnancy and you can cause more damage than good doing sit-ups (hernias being one of the possible outcomes). The same after birth. It's best to check with a good physio (preferably one who specialises in pregnancy) as to when you should stop and resume sit-ups.

I'm not really sure how much I gained in the first tri (I was too scared to weigh myself actually). I too was an 8-10 (in the top half anyway). I first weighed myself at just over 20 weeks and I'd put on 7-8ish kg by then, but I do feel that most of that a lot of that was probably in the first tri (I was extremely hungry with no morning sickness either). By the end of the pregnancy I'd put on about 11ish. I weighed myself a couple of days ago (I was interested to know how much I 'lost' by having Amelia out, the placenta, fluid, etc) and even just a week after birth I'm down 7-8ish kg. I have gained a few stretch marks (on my hip area, TBH I think I wasn't putting moisturiser on that area iniitally - just concentrating on my bump, not that that is necessarily the reason). My stomach is wobbly at the moment, but apparently it takes a while for the muscles to join back together so I'm not worried about it at all. I will worry about that when I'm allowed to start exercising properly again (the physio that came to visit me in the hospital recommended to gym for 3 months to allow the body to heal properly, so just walking til then for me).

Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is try not to worry too much. I am really not one to talk as I was kinda obsessed with it myself during pregnancy, but I now know I needent have worried. Good luck with the pregnancy!

Ask your mum how she faired with pregnancy usually stretch marks ect are more prone if your mum had them as elastin in the skin can be hereditary my mum never got any except her boobs my sister never got any except her boobs and mum had 2 kids my sister had 1 i myself am having baby number 5 and have no stretch marks exept for on my boobs when my milk came in and they ballooned and as for the belly that also depends on how big you get how many babies are in there and my belly is normally flat and firm and i have had 4 kids already i put on 13kgs with my 1st and 8-10 kgs with the others the day after their birth my belly was almost flat but felt very spongy and squishy for a week or 2 i am not a big person i am normally a size 10 but am solid my weight seems to go to my hips and butt so after birth i have usually dropped 5 kgs the day after and it takes 2-3 months to be back to my previous weight.
But just remember it takes 9-10 months for your body to change so it will take a while to be back to normal.
I am having a c section this time around so i wonder how my belly will look after the op fingers crossed i am lucky this time also.

Every person is different as to how much weight you will gain during pregnancy, you body will compensate for what your baby needs. Generally if you are small whenyou get pregnant you will put on a bit of weight and if you are bigger you will already have fat stores for your baby to live on and may not put on much weight at all. As for stretch marks a lot of that is about how elastic your skin is, if you are prone to stretch mark unfortunately there isn't much you can do.

With DD I was slightly overweight - about 5kgs - and all up only put on 6kgs in total. I weighed less leaving hospital than before I was pregnant and I have very few stretch marks appear, mainly near my hips and this was in the last week of my pregnancy. I seem to have a tendancy to carry all to the front so I thought I did well with the limited amount of stretch marks I got.

This time around, I weighed about the same pre pregnancy as I did with DD and so far I have put on 6kg's and I am 24 weeks, although as I am having twins and my growth is currently on par with a 38 week singleton pregnancy I'm happy with the gain. From all our scans our babies are growing and are healthy and I can probably expect to put on another 6 or so kg's before they arrive. So far to date I have had no additional stretch marks appear and my tummy is expanding at an unnatural rate so I'm amazed my skin is coping so well.

You will probably find that after the baby is born, even if you go back to your pre pregnancy weight that your body shape has changed due to having a baby. Generally the hip and boob area are the most noticeable..
