    Maxolon for morning sickness

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and already suffering from horrible 24/7 nausea, just as I did when PG with DD. Eating frequently does help a little, as does resting, but running after a 20 month old toddler is making it really difficult to cope. Yes, already!

I'm planning on trying Maxolon as I just need to feel well enough to get through the day, to be able to play with and attend to my DD properly I was sick until 16 weeks when PG with her, it started getting easier around 14 weeks and I had relief by 16 weeks. I am so worried I have another 10 weeks of this. I don't want to neglect my DD

Has Maxolon helped others with the nausea? I haven't vomited (yet) but feel like I'm going to several times a day.

    TIA

I found it helped a lot. I also found the feeling that I was going to throw up much harder to deal with than actual throwing up. There was never relief! I found the side effects a bit hard to take if I took a whole tablet, so I basically only took half a tablet when I needed it and concentrated on making sure I was eating the right things often enough to keep it at bay. So regular snacks, and trying to consume protein to help blood sugar levels remain constant and I was pretty ok most of the time and just needed the odd tablet to get me through if I'd been really busy or was just plain tired.

    I agree with BW

That sensation of feeling like you're going to throw up and not actually throwing up for me was worse than throwing up! At least after a good chuck there was some relief for a little while.

I was never offered maxolon but it seems to be more communally used now. Hope you get some relief soon.

Thanks girls!! Your posts have bought tears to my eyes just thinking it may help me. Crazy preggy hormones!

I wonder if I'd feel better if I just threw up but I don't enjoy vomiting (really, who does?) and definitely couldn't help myself to do it. I'm just suffering with that constant spewy feeling, hanging out until bedtime when I get some relief. Although last night I was dreading bed as I knew I'd wake up feeling sick throughout the night and again at the start of the day. I was right

I think the blood sugar levels have a lot to do with it as although breakfast was a struggle, I do feel a bit if relief.

Golly, it would appear I'm a bit emotional about this! Thanks again for replying girls

Oh hon - not nice feeling so sick. I've been taking Zofran and its a total lifesaver. Maxalon just did not work for me. So I guess there are a few options out there.

I had that sort of all day on the verge of vomit nausea with DS. I am so so grateful that I didn't get it with A or this time because I have no idea how you could manage feeling like that with a toddler to look after. I hope you can get some relief soon xx

I tried it and it didn't help me at all. I felt sleepy and out of it and kept vomiting anyway. I am quite sensitive to most meds though.
It's worth a shot, but doesn't always help. M/S is the pits.
My two girls had too much TV, a lot of baked beans and 2 minute noodles for about 22 weeks this year. But it was the best I could do at the time. Do what you have to in order to get through I say.

I find maxalone 'helped' to alleviate the sickness to being a bit more bearable, but it never actually got rid of it. Better then nothing though!

Thanks heaps for all your kind words and advice girls Yep, MS sucks bug time!

Well I have had a Maxolon tablet and praise the lord, I feel OK It could just be a coincidence or maybe forcing myself to shower and leave the house today helped but I feel so much better. Fingers crossed it's the miracle cure for me. I am feeling quite sleepy though but that could be the PG anyway.

DD is asleep now so it's time for me to chill out in the backyard then we are going to my parents this afternoon for a 'play' (ie they'll entertain DD while I veg out) and dinner. Yay.

    Thanks again

I had a Maxolon injection Friday night & it worked within the hour. I was pretty sick before I had the injection, couldn't keep anything down. I also got the tablets but have not had to use them yet.

m/s is the pits. I hope you find some relief.

I couldn't deal with Maxalon it actually made me feel sicker, but I could take Stemetil.
    http://www.virtualmedicalcentre.com/...title=Stemetil

    Also http://www.racgp.org.au/cmi/swcsteme.pdf
It says it's not safe but it's on the B list so it can be prescribed so long as you don't over do it

    Good luck.
