yes pizza!!!!! you sold me again soph!!!
Soph, I had my first upchuck in week 10 and my second in week 19, so don't rule it out. However, this is fab because it means I can say I had morning sickness until I was half-way gone and everyone will feel sorry for me! Yay! I felt blergy from about 7w-9w, and occasionally after that.
I felt completely awful and spewed so much from abou 5 weeks till about 10 weeks, and after that I started to feel a bit better and wasnt spewing so much. Sometimes I still feel grosss, but mainly if I havent eaten in a while. Havent spewed in about a week and a half. I'm 17 weeks now, and have only started to feel normal in the last 2 or 3 weeks.
Soph - I had morning sickness all the way to 20 weeks and ten again from 30 -40 weeks!!! was lovely.......... hope it gets better for you darl
I had a look in the early preg symptoms page, but I couldnt find what I am experiencing, so I am not sure if it is normal?
I am getting mild "Gastro" type pains in my upper belly, not my pelvic area....With the nausea..I'm hoping I'm not coming down with gastro.....:(
If it is gastro, how will it effect my bub?
Thanks Ladies
I don't want to worry you, but I wouldn't have expected any pregnancy related cramps to be so high up.
If you do think it's gastro, worth a trip to your doctor, as irritations of the stomach and bowels can bring on contractions. I had this problem at around 24weeks.
Hope all is okay :)
Hi Ally,
First of all Congrats to you!
I had morning sickness for just over three months when i was pregnant with Tayneesha. After that was over it was smooth sailing for me. It sounds like you may have morning sickness and a little gastro. How long have you had the gatro for? It may have been something you ate but it will pass. You need to be careful of what you do eat as listeria can cause problems. I would go and see you GP to get some more advise. :crossfingers: it passes soon and you feel better. Just make sure you drink plenty of water/fluids and also eat fresh veges and fruit etc etc. Hope this helps.

Thanks Ladies....It only started this arvo really....I probably shouldnt have had take out :( I know! Silly me...I have learnt now tho! I was out with mum, and we had to stop in at the shopping centre to get some lunch, as we were out longer than we'd hoped to be.....I should have chosen my food more carefully i think.
LMAO fletch!!! My goodness....what is going on here! I am an utter loony with this pregnancy....Its easier the first time round I say!!!!
Fletch....Its your pain just below your belly button in the middle ish?
Ally, it's not some kind of indigestion is it? I've had pains just below my ribs for a lot of the last 8 weeks, but it's indigestion kinda stuff - which I've experience before pg. It sounds like yours might be lower down though.
If you have not developed diarrohea or vomiting I would say it is just intestinal wind/cramps/discomfort that is a very normal and common "side effect" of pregnancy. I have had it with all 9 of my pregnancies...
Ally i've had the exact same cramps on and off. It's been when i've eaten something that my stomach has not really wanted at the time...and will usually end up in a good ol' fashioned chuck - lol! But if you are still concerned speak to your Dr :)
Thanks Rae...I am feeling alot better now :) I felt a bit flu ish this morning...so it may be a minor bug, or even more likely something i had for lunch yesterday! But at least those cramp type feelings have gone now!
Has anyone taken Maxalon for M/S? How long did you take it for? Did you only take it on the days that you were vomiting, or as well as on the verge of vomiting days?....
My Doc has prescribed it, but as much as I am desparate to feel normal and well again, I dont feel right in taking it, even tho it is safe during pregnancy.....Nothing seems to be relieving my Day/Night sickness and my patience is running out very quickly. At this rate I cant see a light at the end of the tunnel. :(
I sure did, Ally. I only ended up having it for a short while as it helped me get through the days at work when I was deathly ill. I was about 9 or 10 weeks when I started taking it and had stopped by 12 weeks as the sickness was getting bearable and more occasional by that stage. It is completely safe so don't hold back if you are feeling terrible and really can't go on.
Hi Ally, I hope you're feeling much better soon. So sorry hun I can't say about the maxolon, I just wanted to pop in and tell you about using ginger as there was a trial done at the Women and Children's Hospital in Adelaide recently that found it was very effective if taken in capsule form. You said you've tried everything so you might not have had success but if not it's worth a go.
Blackmores has a formulation that includes the correct dosage of ginger along with B6 (also recommended). Or you might be better off with a liquid gel type ginger capsule 9easier to absorb). The other thing you might try is acupuncture, they got very good results with that in another trial at the WCH. Just another couple of options if you're not comfortable with the prescription medicine.
:hugs:
Ally ,i hope you feel better soon. I used Maxolon a little bit when I was constantly spewing everything I ate. I think I got it when I was about 7 or 8 weeks pregnant. It worked a little, but I didnt use it everyday. I just used it on the particularly bad days.
My doctor told me it is completely safe to use during pregnancy, as long as you dont exceed the recommended dose.
My dr prescribed it for me and told me to take it beofre going to bed and then when I woke up, said something about it assists in moving things through the digestive tract. I ended up stopping as I would rather vomit and then feel better (vomit then feel better all morning and than all night) than feel nausous ALL DAY which is how the maxalon made me feel
I used maxalon and stemitill and it still didn't work. In the end I used zoflan - which is what they give to people going through Chemo.
Istruggled with the fact that i was putting a drug into my body - even though I was assured that it was safe to use. I came to terms with it by knowing that it was better to take the drug, than to be dehydrated and malnourished as i could not keep anything down
HTH
I was just thinking that maybe we need a sticky thread with the different things people have found most useful in dealing with m/s because it is a thread which comes up a lot.
Ally, I found sea bands invaluable!! Available from most chemists they look like tennis wrist bands and have magnets which go on accupressure points. Made me feel a lot better than without even though not 100% but that was ok cos it was better than when I didn't have them :)
Ally, I really hope you start to feel better soon or find something which helps you to feel human.
i have been using maxalon on days when my m/s is really bad - well nights too & i also use the blackmores morning sickness tablets & have them to be good too
Hi Ally,
I used maxalon last time and I found it only took the edge off. I used it for maybe a week and stopped because if there was any risk in taking it, I thought it wasn't worth it for the results I got.
I too used maxolon, but I only took it twice as I didn't find it stopped me from feeling sick at all.
Like Cass, I've found the sea-sickness bands WONDERFUL. I'm still wearing them because when I don't wear them I end up getting worse (still feel sick about 50% of the time, but it's nowhere near as severe as it is without the bands). I've got the velcro bands, but would like to find some of the elasticy ones as the velcro aggravates my skin.
I used them once and felt bad afterwards that i could harm bub that i never used them again. I tried everything to combat my 24/7 sickness which lasted to 20 weeks. The only thing i found helped (and now swear by and will use for future pregnancies) and GREEN APPLES. They done wonders for me. Didnt take the sickness away but sure eased it and let me get on with day to day living.
I hope you feel better soon :D
Hi Ally,
I agree with Marydean, Ginger tablets/capsules were really great for me. I lived on them for my first 20 weeks. I tried sea-bands, but they didn't work on the really bad days. My doctor also offered Maxolon, but suggested it only after I'd tried everything else first.
Dont feel bad for having to take Maxalon, I know heaps of women that took it and have perfectly healthy babies.
I am allergic to it and have been taking Zofran from 6 weeks still to this day, have been in hospital 4 times with dehydration from severe m/s and if it wasnt for the Zofran I truly believe I may of thrown myself out of a moving car. I just got out of hospital again and am feeling quite good, so we shall see how long it lasts.
Its a quality of life thing, dont try to be extra strong if its too hard.
Good luck.
I was prescribed Maxalon as well Ally and would you believe my luck.... it didn't do a thing!! If it had worked though I would have taken it every day - I was so so sick and still needed to work. I hope you're feeling better soon hun!
I have had three babies and suffered from severe m/s each time until 20-24 weeks. It was just awful. I tried everything, and I mean everything. I felt sick from the moment I woke up to the moment I would mercifully fall asleep. To me, it felt like I had gastro for 4-5 months. I tried all the natural remedies (had bruises on my wrists from those damn sea bands - I know they work for some, but not for me!), I tried acupunture (maybe it took a very small about of the m/s away), ginger/b6 (couldn't really tell the difference), and then my Dr. prescribed Zofran. I was also a little worried about how it may affect my baby (I was assured by my Dr. that it was perfectly safe). I only took a lose dose and it only helped a small about (still felt sick, just didn't vomit as much). I've heard Maxolon is similar to Zofran in that it doesn't really take the sick feeling away, it just reduces the vomit. The only time I felt "ok" was for the 5-10 min after I vomited, so after a few weeks on Zofran I gave it up.
Hope you are feeling better soon because I can remember how awful it was. Mary
Thank you all so much for your replies! They have been very helpful !
Thankfully, I am feeling a little better today, so i am hoping that the worst of it is easing up a bit! I have still been procrastinating about taking the maxolon, so havent taken it as yet, but can totally understand those who have....I certainly wont rule it out on those shocking days! The sea bands arent working for me, but the ginger tablets are taking the worst of it away, thank goodness.
I can really relate to you Jade....Its so horrible, you just cant see the end!
Thanks again ladies
Is it normal to have ON & OFF morning sickness ?
sometimes i wake up with it sometimes i dont , sometimes i get it in the morning sometimes in the evening.. sometimes not at all ???????
I dont actually throw up to much usually just a full on dry reaching session sometimes just a feeling of fullness or nausea like i need to keep taking deep breaths. ?
Hi Meegm,
I am throwing up quite a bit but I certainly have periods where I feel fine - particulary after eating a cheeseburger. I'm addicted to them again. (Was with DS too)
I think it is perfectly normal for it to be on and off. With DS I had m/s really bad and I remember an entire day of feeling fine and I freaked out something was wrong but it was all fine.
Thanks MelH
I know what im having for lunch but im going DOUBLE CHEESEBURGEEEEEEERRRRRRRRR
:p
everything you have asked so far is very normal. Althought every woman experiences different "normal" through their pregnancies.
Some dont get m/s at all, others get it right through. Mine started at 10 weeks and is just easing up now. I didnt throw up every morning, just some. And never in the afternoon.
HTH
hi meegm
what you are saying sound just like me right now i am about 8 week preg and sometimes i feel fine other days i feel like crap but i never be actually sick so i would say its normal
yeah i agree with everyone else... Mine is on and off feel very sick today thought i was going to spew this morning but it went away.. Feel yucky now just had some toast cos im soooo hungry but food is making me sick... My friend had really bad morning sickness but would have some good days and bad ones..
u guys are lucky i have had m/s for the last 4 weeks all day everyday feelin really bad rite now and wind omg i have so much of it it's not funny is there anything i can to to try stop the wind???? with my 1st i only had 3 day of m/s wish it was same this time
I am so jealous of you guys! I'm told it's very normal to have on/off m/s, I wish mine had an off button! Even just for a day! I am counting down to 12 weeks, desperately hoping that I won't be one of those people who have it the whole 9 months! Couldn't cope with that!!!!
I have a few friends who have m/s that comes and goes, I think sometimes it can be worse if you've been overdoing it? Hopefully it will ease up for you in a few weeks......:)
Don't worry, I have had the same concerns the last few days, but do realise its normal, despite my worry.
The last few days I have felt totally fine in the mornings, and not as hungry and as other parts of the day or previous days, but then shortly after lunch, I start to feel sick. Feel like no matter what I eat, I am never full for long.
In the mornings I check my boobs etc to make sure they haven't disappeared! hahaha. This afternoon when m/s kicked in, my boobs also started aching on top, which I have never felt as bad as I did today. Headaches etc.
Presently eating some beef two minute noodles to help get me through grocery shopping tonight. I always find THE WORST time of the day for me is late afternoon, early evening before we have dinner.
My sister is 10 weeks pregnant but is having really bad morning sickness. She's been off work for the past 2-3 weeks with it, and can't keep any meals down for more than 10 minutes. Ginger isn't working. She's in a pretty bad way mentally, getting very worked up and upset about how bad she feels.
I told her to go to the doctors again to see if they can give her something to help, but just wondering if anybody has any ideas since she's very down about it all. I suggested she just eat a bite or two every now and then rather than eat meals. Any other ideas?
i found suckin on a mint or a chupa chup helped i knw how she feels i have had really bad m/s this time and it's all day hope she feels beta very soon
sucking on lollies is known to help, and I took Blackmores Morning sickness tablets and I swear by them. Having said that, everyone is different and what works for one won't work for another. I found fruit teas (and I HATE tea) helped....I also found lemon drinks helped me too. Vegemite on toast eased it a little....hmm....relaxing also helps. I found the more stressed I was, the worse M/S got. I hope something out of this helps. M/S is terrible and I really feel for her!
Oh, I forgot, you can get travel sickness bands to help ease M/S. Maybe they will work for you? I'm not sure I can remember anything else ATM. Sorry....
