Morning Sickness Discussion

Hi fellow m/s victims!

I only have one more suggestion to add (from my local GP) - frozen cubes of sustagen. It's helped keep my energy up (I have a full time job) and made me feel a little bit better about not being able to keep a lot of meals down. It feels bizarre to continue having to eat when it's the last thing you feel like doing and knowing you are probably not going to be able to keep it down - but I was told to persist.

Carbs, Frosty Fruit iceblocks, Elevit and frozen cubes of sustagen have been my loyal companions for the past 3 weeks when i've been at my worst. Nothing really seems to ease nausea of completely though...

I have just hit week 10 and it does seem to be easing in the middle of the day. A small ray of light??

This is my 3rd pregnancy and I am having HORRIBLE morning sickness this time which I didnt get with my previous pregnancies. I was just wondering when did everyones morning sickness subside?? I am about 10 weeks now and it doesnt seem to be getting any better :wall:

I too have morning sickness this time which I never had with the first. Its Horrible I know I was sick all day and at night. But now its starting to go away, I will be 14wks on monday. We too are also hoping for a girl as I am over run with boys in our house.

I would have to say that my morning sickness got worse with each baby. Don't ask me why? It might have been all in my head. lol.

Morning sickness generally eases of around 12 weeks. There is alot happening in your body up until that time. They believe those hormone / physical changes are the cause of morning sickenss.

Unfortunately, its not the same for all women. But keep your fingers crossed. It should hopefully subside in around 2-3 weeks.

Oh I feel for you! I had it for 16 weeks with my twins and 20 weeks in my current pregnancy :( Maybe it gets worse because with each subsequent pregnancy, as you have other stresses like running after toddlers?! My bubs are all boys too, so nothing to do with sexes! I really hope you get better soon...nothing worse :( (BTW-Ginger Beer really helped me)

I am about 10 1/2 weeks, and this weekend I was able to eat "as normal"...had 3 meals, which is a first for a while. So for me, I say about 10 1/2 weeks. Hope it's the same for you.

MUmmabear, I only had mild M/S with my first 2, but have had it much worse with this pregnancy. Mine didn't really subside till about the 15 week mark.

I think alot of it is because we still ahve to run around after 2 other littles!

Mine has only just dropped off in the last few days. I have been feeling sick, almost constantly since week 6. I started to become less constant, the vomiting stopped, and now it has all but gone.

Hope you get some relief soon.

Spring

For me, around 14 weeks. Hopefully it subsides for you soon sweetie!

I had no sickness at all with my first, then increasing sickness with each pg! although the last two were about the same. It started by about 6-7 weeks and was over by 12 weeks, although even after that some foods still repelled me.

10 weeks with my first and 14 weeks with my second.
Hang in there, I remember all too well how miserable it is ...yuck :(

My morning sickness started to lessen around 10 or 11 weeks. I think it was pretty much gone by about 13 weeks or so.
I hope it goes away soon for you.

Mine started to go away about week 10/11, it has only really gone away though this week, and I will be 12 weeks tomorrow.

Your so right....this has been my worst morning sickness. I have bever been so sensitive to smells....and breakfast.

Luckily mine has eased from 15 weeks....So there is light at the end of the tunnel and the usual advice of small meals often.

For me, morning sickness started at about 7 weeks, and was very very extreme. Luckily at 12 weeks it settled down. I couldnt even listen to some sounds it was so bad (coughing, frying).

I really hope it settles for you real soon!! You have my sympathy 100%.

Hi mumma bear (im also a mumma bear, only called mbear), anyway, im pregnant with #3 too. I am 12.5 weeks now and am no longer vomiting each moring. With my first two pregnancies i had NO SICKNESS, not one vomit. So this was a bit of a shock to me......weeks 8-10 were my worst. Im starting to feel human again, and can stay up till 9pm these days LOL....

Mine started at 7 weeks and lasted everyday until 14 weeks. From wk 14 to 16 it eased off to once or twice a week. Im now 20 weeks and havnt been sick since wk 16.

Mummabear - mine started around 6weeks and didnt stop until 13-14wks. And now its like I never had it! Chin up - it does get better sweets. I was having lots ginger in iced water or tea to help ease the sickness.

I have just posted in 2nd tri about m/s..... I'm 22w and still sick every morning without fail!!
It seems to be getting worse too!!!:(

Well I live in Adelaide and there is a gastro outbreak. I am not sure how far along I am in the pregnancy but I would think not to far.

I have been feeling fine up until this morning when I suddenly felt sick and I havent been able to eat anything.

There is a gastro outbreak going round and I could have that as I saw my mother yesterday and she has had the runs (but thinks it is something she ate).

I am not sure how I would tell the difference between gastro and morning sickness?

Take it easy, rest up and drink heaps of fluids. Hope it passes for you soon :hug:

I am just trying to do that lol it is a bit hard with a nearly 11 month old crawling around getting into everything, but at the moment she is ok.

I am thinking it could be gastro as I am feeling cold and I have put a jumper on and it is warm here, I dont have a temp though.

I hope it goes away soon as I have a messy kitchen to clean up as we had people over for dinner last night.

i have shocking morning sickness ATM, and am also just recovering from the flu. i also have a 13month old at home, so know how hard it can be when you are sick. there have been times where i have felt so bad i have just had to lay down, at these times i put my daughter in the cot (or playpen) with some of her favourite toys and lay down. you may feel a bit guilty doing this, but sometimes there isn't much of an alternative.

I am feeling a bit better and have actually eaten some normal food. I have been having naps when DD has so I am feeling a bit better.

Good luck to you with the ms I really dont know how i am going to cope if this keeps up.

i describe m/s as the worst hangover i've ever had, minus the fun the night before.

that would probably be how i would distinguish it from the 'urgency' of gastro.

either way. i feel for ya!

I think it is ms and I know about the hangover feeling I remember that clearly! I just dont like having it, it puts me off of liking this pregnancy thing.

my m/s cured me of ever wanting to do this again, no matter how good it turns out to be...

so far pregnancy is a scam!;)

from about 10 weeks and 2 days it just suddenly dropped away. i am no longer 'hair trigger' vomiting at stuff i think about....

haven't had a heave since... i think the weekend. for the most part i'm fixed. it is only the really nasty 'trigger foods' that get me now... i won't list them, for my own sake (and yours). i have very minimal, intermittent queasiness.

i did have acupuncture in the worst of it, and i'll go back for another round on monday. i have managed to go 14 days between visits (normally i'd be banging the acupuncturists door down after 5 days). can't recommend it enough.

32 weeks solid with Shelby, let up for about a week and then started again until the day she was born. So far I am still getting it but it doesn't start until I eat in the morning. WEIRD.

This is my fifth pregnancy and i'm sure it is the worst so far. I am 11 weeks, 2 days pregnant and my ms seems to be getting worse. I have two girls and two boys and found that the ms was ALWAYS worse with girls. Good luck to you!

With my first pregnancy i had m/s for about a week in total, however my second pregnancy i had it for 17 weeks.

Hope it eases off soon for you.

mine just started a couple of days ago and its all day!, i have severe nausea but not throwing up. I think i would feel better if i could throw up.

at the moment my diet consists of dry toast with nothing on it, ginger beer and steamed vegies. and chewing gum, thats about all i can handle.

i hope it goes away for you soon and me too.. but i think it will only get worse before it gets better for me :(

Firstt pregnancy it lasted til 22 weeks

Hoping this time it will go much sooner.....im now bit over 11 weeks and it does not appear to be leaving any time soon!

I had it 17 weeks with my first and this one doesn't seems to be easing yet and i am 13 weeks this Thursday.

Last time though it was just nausea all day every day. This time it is vomiting every morning and feeling nauseous the rest of the time - roll on 17 weeks I say!!! I am sick of it HA!

My MS started when I was about 8 weeks and I think my last vomit was when I was about 19wk pg .. it got steadily better from there :)

OK, with Tallon, all I had was a motion sickness kind of feeling all day, which was worse if my tummy got empty. Well, thinking I was going to get away with nothing this time around, it's hit me HARD today.

BUT - my question is, can morning sickness be the same as a bug kind of sickness? or is it a different kinda feeling? It's just that (sorry TMI) I've also had loose bowels this morning, and when I chuck up I get all hot & clammy etc.. just like I do if I'm sick with a bug.

Please tell me I have a bug that will go away and that morning sickness isnt like this.

heheh.. think I'm asking a bit much huh. I just feel so ill! I'm desperately trying to keep my fluids up so I can feed Tallon (funnily enuf, feeding him makes me feel sooo much better.. but it would be contributing to me feeling yuck in between feeds).

So I shouldn't say be really careful as Victoria is currently having a nasty bout of gastro??
I think this could be equally as bad for you as ongoing m/s...

Unfortunately only time will tell! It could be one or the other. With this pregnancy I have had a couple of bouts of loose bowel movements, fortunately only once or twice. The hot and clammy feeling is a pretty normal reaction after any type of vomiting. Keeping your fluids up is a great idea. I hope this passes for you soon!

hmm... well it's subsided a bit, and I managed to keep a piece of toast down! OMG.. if this is morning sickness, how do you keep up with a toddler?? exhausted just thinking about my weeks ahead.

Goodluck Liz...... its hard enuf looking after a nealry 5 month old...i could only image looking after a 1 yo as well... lucky i havent been too sick.. but sick enuf!!

I hope its just a bug for you... and not m/s!
