No featal pole or heartbeat detected at 5.5 weeks??

I'd have the blood test done serendipity. They are usually pretty accurate.

Will they just look that they are at a certain level for how far i am ??

Good luck with it all Serendipity! I had my scan last week - I thought it was 7 weeks, but it turned out to be only 5wks 6days. The equipment they use makes a difference sometimes too...not all ultrasound machines and accessories are as sensitive as others. I could just see the fetal pole which was only 2.4mm...apparently many machines can't pick up something so small at all...I know it's hard not to stress though...

I would think they will tell you a guide to how many weeks you are. But they also may want to test a few days later to check they are still going up.

Just went for blood test so will get results in 2 days. But in positive thinking better than waiting ten days for another scan that could show nothing much again.
The doctor said he would rather i didnt have another scan for another 4 weeks anyway.
Well have 2 days to hope for the best

Will let you all know what happened as soon as i know

Hi,
It's good you had the test but you should be able to get the results a bit sooner than that. When I was having my levels monitored the results were taking 3 hours!
One result on its own won't tell you much but another one in 2-3 days will reassure you that things are okay. If the level has doubled things are looking good.
I would be pushing for a scan next week if I were you. Just to put your mind at rest and then you can get on with being pregnant!

The doctor didnt put urgent on them so thats why as he wasnt all that concerned, i will ring tommorow as they may be in. I did think they were meant to be monitored but i think he was just checking the levels were as they should be for my dates. I am not asking for another scan yet as i dont want to go in and find the same results if its slow moving along with fetal pole etc. But i get your point, i am in complete limbo with it all. Cant really tell people and the couple of have told i have to say now dont get excited cause it all could be over before it begins, so not really the way you want to spread news really.
Thanks for the support again will let you know when i find out, have been still feeling symptoms today so feeling a bit more positive. Have my nephew coming up on holidays on sunday so glad for something else to focus on, couldnt of come at a better time really

Well got results back today and they said normal results and that no further investigation was needed.
So seems all is good and i can now move on.

Michelle: They said on scan letter to go back in ten days but doctor said he would rather me wait 4 weeks then at least everything would show up by then i would guess. So will take his advice and just leave it for now.
