I had terrible sinusitis when pregnant with DD, I was crying from the pain of it. I had a sinus infection in the end.

There ARE other antibiotics you can have - I am allergic to penicillin too. I just can't remember what the name of it was now. The GP looked up on her computer something I could have that was safe in pregnancy and not penicillin. I feel like it began with Z but I just can't recall, it was 2 years ago now.

I also had a saline nasal wash called Sinoclear from the chemist and was taking Panadeine 4 times a day for a week until I could drop back to Panadol. The Sinoclear is a bit horrible, you tip your head to the side and squirt it up your nose, you have a momentary drowning type of feeling but it does work.

She also told me to use a nasal spray for relief but not to tell the pharmacist I was pregnant because they may not sell it to me - but that it WAS safe during pregnancy. I shouldn't go bananas with it...but then you shouldn't do that anyway.

Why a GP prescribed something you are allergic to is beyond me...go and see another one.
