    Still hope.....right??

I have been on google nearly all day looking at things ( I know that's probably a bad idea lol) but it has made me feel a little better.
I had a scan yesterday, and im hoping it was because it was too early that they didn't see anything. My blood test result yesterday was a level of 33 which I understand is very low. The doctor thinks I am most probably going to have a miscarriage if I haven't already (spotting & cramping Monday just gone).
I have another blood test tomorrow to check my level again. What are my chances of it going up? After reading a few positive stories, I am a little bit more hopeful this afternoon than I was this morning!!

It really all depends on where you are in your pregnancy...

How many days past ovulations are you?

Has it been 48-72 hours since the last blood test were taken?

I would have been ovulating again on Monday just gone. So I would have been about 3-4 wks pregnant. I did the first blood test about 3pm yesterday and will be doing it again tomorrow about the same time. So it will be 48 hrs later.

Ok...so by ovulated again last Monday...Do you mean ovulated again since you ovulated, had sex and got your positive result?

Or do you mean, you ovulated on Monday and thats when you had sex and are now in the two week wait?

Because if it was the former you have been around 6 weeks on Monday just gone.

If it was latter, you'd only been 2 days past ovulation and a HCG result of 33 would be prett accurate I think.

Sorry, if I'm confusing you! I'm just a little confused myself.

Sorry! I would have last ovulated on the 16th October.

    All good

Ok. So if dates are right, you'd have to be around 4 weeks which could be the reason for the your HCG being where its at.

HCG goes up in 48 hour increments. So if when you get your results back its gone up any, its a great sign

Also, at this point in your pregnancy, not seeing anything on the ultrasound is perfectly normal.

    Wishing you all the best!

I think it is too early for your Dr to be saying it is a m/c or you are going to m/c. Like Sara said, you are just on 4 weeks, so HCG level would be low and an u/s would not really show anything yet. Your next blood test should show your HCG increasing. GL

I'm sorry, but if you ovulated on October 16, you would be six weeks or so pregnant (it is taken from your last period starting, not ovulation). There is always hope for everything, but 33 is extremely low for six weeks. I am really sorry

Wishing you all the best x

Just to add more positives. My sister in law actually didn't get a positive hpt till 10 weeks, blood test even then was very low (80) she now has a darling baby girl. Her sister actually kept getting her period for 3 months before missing a period at all...

So in saying that ANYTHING is possible

Ok, 33 is too low a result for 6 weeks, but are you sure you are indeed 6 weeks pg. Is it possible that you miscalculated your ovulation date? I saw in your other thread that you got a positive preg test on the weekend, so Im wondering if you are actually only 4 weeks and therefore 33 is quite an acceptable result. The only way to know is if the HCG is doubling every 48 hours, so the next blood test should give you more answers.

I hope you are just have your dates mixed up.

Thank you all so much for the positive answers!! I am holding out hope that I indeed could still be pregnant.
However, I honestly think if I am, I am only about 4 weeks along.
Obviously it could still go the other way, so I am also trying to not get my hopes up so high! Just keeping positive will be good enough for me until I get my blood results back on Friday.

According to Melbourne Pathology, the expected normal values of HCG for early pregnancy are:

    3-4 weeks post LMP: 9-130
    4-5 weeks post LMP: 75-2600
    5-6 weeks post LMP: 850-20800
    6-7 weeks post LMP: 4000-100200

So it makes a huge difference if you are only 3-4 weeks pregnant, or if you actually ovulated on the 16th Oct and are about 6 weeks.

If you are only 3-4 weeks, then there's hope
If you are 6 weeks then unfortunately it's not looking good

Hopefully everything turns out ok for you!!

With my last pregnancy I had very heavy bleeding (including clots sorry tmi) which lasted over a week and I was sure I was miscarrying (as I had already had two previous miscarriages), my hcg was still rising but it was no where near doubling every 48 hours. My doctor told me he was pretty sure I was going to miscarry but my baby is now a healthy 16 month old.....so anything is possible.

Well I have been in and out of hospital all weekend. We are still none the wiser about what is going on. I am still spotting though, I'm not as concerned about that at the moment though. It's always brown, and there is never enough to even fill a liner. I have had a number of blood tests. My levels had stayed the same the first 2, but have gone up with the last 2. Not quite doubling though. So I'm either still pregnant, and just very early or it is ectopic. I am booked in at the early pregnancy unit tomorrow morning for more bloods and some further scans. My scans from early last week didn't show anything because i would have been too early. Here's hoping I get some answers tomorrow before I go insane!!
