Well yesterday wasn't much help to us either!! My levels have gone up again to over 600 (2 days prior they were 470 so not quite doubling). I have to go back on Monday for another blood test. They are still unable to see anything on the scans. I have a feeling I'm a few weeks earlier than what they think. I didn't miss a period, but my doctor is going off the one prior to my last, which would make me 7-8 weeks, but I think I am personally going onto 5. This is so frustrating!! It would explain why they are unable to see anything on the scans. They keep talking about ectopic but they can't even see anything in my tubes either yet!! Which would also make sense if I am as early as I think. I have still been spotting, but it's only once a day and it's not red, it's a watery brown (tmi). I just want to know what is happening!!! Argh!! Has anyone else been through this?? Pregnancy of unknown location.

I have no idea sorry - never heard of it before. Still stalking though

Is the plan that they'll just keep checking until they see something?

Well yesterday he said if my hcg levels aren't over 1000 by Monday he wants me to seriously think about getting an injection to pass it or a d & c. But going on my levels I should definitely be over 1000 in 4 days. And hopefully if they are he wil let me get another scan and they should be able to see something when it reaches that level. I just hate how doctors give up so easily on these things. He was very reluctant for me to wait until Monday even, but if my levels keep rising I am not going to let them get rid of it! And if they have definitely miscalculated like I suspect they have, there could be a perfectly normal pregnancy in there. Gosh, I could just scream at the amount of ifs in all this!

What do you mean 'let' you have another scan? You NEED another scan. How can he suggest you terminate without proper exploration? That's insanity. I would be finding a new dr. My darling GP never gave up hope until the blood test showed my HCG dropping.

Demand better for yourself hun. And don't make any decisions until you have answers.

It is extremely stressful. The other side of me is stressing that if it is ectopic, do I have the time to wait until Monday?? What if something happens in the next 4 days. Geez!! I just don't know what to do! I'm really really really hoping its not ectopic, and we are just early like I think.
It's all through the early pregnancy unit at the hospital, so you would like to think that once he had my hcg levels back, they would do a scan. And I definitely would be asking for one before i got the injection.

It makes me so angry that you may well have to fight for adequate treatment. If it is ectopic, you will most likely suffer some very painful cramping. It's not the kind of thing you won't notice. I think time is on your side. Waiting it out should be ok, just monitor your symptoms. If you are in pain, go straight to the ER.

I hope your baby proves them all wrong, and stays strong and healthy.

And this is just my opinion here, but if it was me, I would be making a complaint about any dr who suggests we terminate based solely on his hunch. Shame on them. More for you.

Just wanted to wish you luck hun, with my DD my levels at 5wks from lmp were only 29, I later found out at my first scan when I was supposed to be 7wks that I was only 4wks 1d when I had my first BT, I had lots of brown spotting and bright red bleeding with my DD too, not all the time but every couple of weeks for a few hours or days at a time. I had thrush and didn't know it which caused a lot of it, but I also found that it would go red when AF would have been due, and also when the cramping from her digging in got worse, though nothing ever showed up on the scans to say where I was bleeding from.

I haven't had bleeding this pregnancy, implantation or otherwise which had me worried because I've had implantation bleeding with all but my very first pregnancy, and I had lots of pain on my left side and abdominal tenderness which made me think ectopic, turns out that I have a 6cm cyst on my ovary instead.
My HCG with this pregnancy was 16 at 3wks 5d, 68 at 4wks 2d, 176 at 4wks 5d and 5240 at 5wks 5d - I had my first positive HPT at 3wks 2d but my cycles have been anywhere from 11 days to 25 days since having DD, they used to be 31-35 days prior to DD.

I have been told that as long as the levels are going up by 60% every 48 hours, or doubling every 72 hours then usually things are fine.

Sorry this is a bit rambly, just wanted to give you some hope.

I'm keeping my FXed that everything is ok and you are earlier than the doctor thinks xxx

I had very low levels with my DD too and the dr warned me that the chances of miscarriage were very, very high and I should resign myself.
I now have a monster 2 yr old!
Keep your chin up chick and stay positive!!!

If you have irregular cycles, your 5 weeks could be spot on! I've never let them use LMP to calculate gestation in my pregnancies as my cycles are so long, but I ovulate 13 days before the end of the cycle regardless of the length! So I'd always go on ovulation date The fat lady certainly isn't singing for you yet! As forshelby said, you'll feel an ectopic - and they'll see something in a tube, so don't let them terminate a potentially 100% healthy pregnancy on a hunch.

Big for a stressful time, I hope this is a sticky, take home baby

Thank you all so much. I feel a lot better hearing all these successful stories. On a good note, I haven't had any spotting today (touch wood!!!!) and I feel a LOT better, haven't had any cramping today. hopefully these are all extremely good signs, and we will see something in the scans on Monday!!

Unfortunately it was found to be ectopic on the 28th November. It was in my left tube. I had methotrexate that afternoon. My hormones on day of injection were 1400, on day 4 went up to 2000, day 7 went back down to 1700 and now I just have to go back every Monday to make sure they are still going down. My level yesterday was 620. So thankfully it looks like it is working. I have really not had any bad pain either, just a few sharp twinges every now and then, and bleeding.

Sorry to hear the news Reeney. Glad the methotrexate is working so you can avoid an operation.
