Unhappy Stupidly used Aeroguard at 4 weeks

    Hi there...

I'm really worried as I have used Aeroguard Low Scent the other day when I was only just 4 weeks pregnant. At the time I didnt really think about it - I was more worried that I was getting eaten alive by mozzies and that someone had mentioned that there was ross river in the area...I sprayed some on my legs from the knees down and also on my arms. After about 45mins I was stressing about it so went home and had a shower to scrub it all off and kept drinking water the rest of the night...

Now I feel really guilty and worried that it might cause the baby some harm because Aeroguard has DEET in it

Can anyone help me feel better I'm trying not to worry too much

I never knew this was a problem.. i've sprayed it on myself a numerous amount of times cause the mozzies were so bad.

Gee I've never been warned off using it, and I don't think I've ever seen a warning on the packaging either....

I used it when I was about 20 weeks pregnant - No harm done as far as I can tell.

I think the levels that are in it are very low and it wouldn't be absorbed by the skin in very high quantities.

So I wouldn't worry too much about it, but just mention it to your doctor next time you go to get extra reassurance

    Hi hubba bubba,

like the others i too have not heard about aerogaurd and any possible side effects..so i cannot comment from the perspective of its effect.

if you are that concerned speak to your gp or midwife...otherwise please try not to stress too much at the moment.

Personally since falling pregnant i have been EXTREMELY paranoid about everything i put on my skin and in my mouth!! And i think that this is part of our normal instinct to be so concerned and cautious. When i was 4 weeks (way before i new i was pg) i was at a wedding and drank a few too many glasses of wine/alcohol...and naturally when i found out i was pg i stressed myself out for no particular reason...and of course felt guilty thinking it might cause the little one harm.....please dont stress it will just make things worse..

I can understand not wanting to over expose to chemicals but I'm sure a few applications wouldn't have any effect... and it's better than getting ross river fever!

Thank you so much everyone for your replies. I'm feeling much more calm about it now - I'll mention it to my GP in a couple of days when she's back in her office but since it was a once off and I only had it on for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours, I'm sure it will be okay.
