    Question Subchorionic bleed

I had an ultrasound yesterday and everything seemed to be fine. I got the films back today along with the report for my Dr.
On the report it says "There is a very small (less than 1ml) subchorionic bleed inferior to the gestational sac."

Should I be concerned? I haven't had any bleeding yet (and hopefully won't) so I am a bit confused. I can't get in to see my Dr until Friday. I am exactly 7 weeks pregnant today.

Lisa, I dont know what that means and its no use googling it as I am sure its something your Dr needs to talk to you about. Can you ring and ask to speak with your Dr or midwife rather than having to wait for the appt.

I am sure all will be well, these things can often sound scary to us who dont know what they mean and then be quite normal.

    Good Luck!

    Hi Lisa
A subchorionic bleed is a bleed between your placenta and the wall of your uterus. A small bleed is usually not a problem and the blood will often be reabsorbed by your body. If this happens then the placenta may well also reattach where the bleed is. If the placenta does not reattach at this point then as the area is only small it should not cause you any worries. However I would expect your doctor to want to keep an eye on it.

    I had this!!! hehe
Mine was discovered after 5-6 days of light spotting. I was told it would most likely be re abosorbed by my body adn not be too much of a drama.
Well, I had a MASSIVE bleed.... but don't be disheartened!! I am still very much pregnant with my gorgeous little bubba. I had a scan a few days after the bleed and the subchornic heamatoma was gone. I had a small amount of spotting for another 2 weeks, and have had none since.
Now, all I get are major jabs in the groin. lol

Def stay positive. The fact you have had no bleeding is a fantastic sign!
Keep an eye on yourself, take it easy. It's most likely that it will be reabsorbed (I know of 3 close friends who had the same thing).

    All the very best. xxoo

    Wow... thanks so much everyone

I've been trying not to imagine the wors, but it is difficult when you read the word "bleed" after your last pregnancy was a miscarriage.
I had unexplained bleeding with Harrison and he turned out just fine. I guess this subchorionic bleed may explain some of the strange pains I've been having, although I have put them down to stretching pain.
    Thanks again everyone

I had the same thing! My last pregnancy was a miscarraige too so I would have freaked out if I hadn't have had the u/s lady tell me what it was (not that I understood that part) but assured me that all was fine and that it would probably just reabsorb but if I had a little bleeding then it was probably just that working it's way out. Mine has reabsorbed and I'm now 25 weeks and wouldn't have known anything about it except for the u/s. One thing my midwife did suggest was to keep the u/s handy in case of a bleed to take with you to hospital to give them more info about what might be going on.

I'm sure everything will be fine. GL with the rest of your pregnancy!
