    Weight Loss??

    Hi all....

Just wondering, as this is my first pregnancy and I have no idea.... the last time I weighed my self (1 wk after last period) I was 70.5kg. I weighed myself this morning, thinking I should be heavier being that I am possibly 5 wks pregnant, but the scale (exactly the same time as last time - always weigh myself first thing in the morning after morning walk before shower) I am 68.5kg....

Is this something to be concerned about? I have been eating properly - the same really - 3 meals a day plus snacks, I have m/s but I haven't actually vomited...
I am trying to book in for a dating scan as my dr thinks I might be further along than 5 wks but haven't got an appointment as yet.

If anyone has any thoughts it would be greatly appreacited...

I wouldn't worry about that at all, and definitely not at this very early stage. Your body is working hard growing your baby so its not unusual to lose weight. I had periods of losing weight, gaining weight, then losing weight again. All up I only put on 5.5kgs through the entire pregnancy. The important thing is that along the way your baby is growing well, whatever your weight is doing.

I lost 3kg in the first trimester last time and I wasn't even particularly sick. Lots of people lose weight in the first tri - especially those who have bad MS. Remember your baby is like a parasite (bad analogy, I know) in that it will take what it needs from your body.
Don't worry about losing weight - you'll definitely put it back on before your pregnancy is up!

    Hi,
As long as you feel well and the baby is going well, weight loss shouldnt make a great deal of difference at this stage. I have lost 8 kg and not put on anything!! The exact opposite to my other pregnancies and the baby is fine and healthy.

Lat preg I lost 5 kg 1 st trimester and only put 4.5 back on, 3.8 of which was my son! So even the day before he was born I weighed less than I did at conception... and my baby was big, strong and healthy.

Don't worry about it, you're doing all the right things!

With my last pregnancy I lost 3 kilos in a week and miscarried the following week. I did not realise it at the time but sudden weight loss in early pregnancy is a sign of an impending miscarriage That said it can also just be because of m/s or it could be because you are eating far healthier than before.... but I think you generally lose it gradually if this is the case. I'd only be concerned if the weight loss was rapid like mine was.
