    Worried!

Today I went to the hospital because I was having pain where my kidneys are and some abdominal cramping...... the cramping has been on and off about a month now and the back pain just started two days ago.... so I went thinking maybe a kidney infection. They ended up giving me a vaginal ultrasound. They said they couldnt hear a heart beat but could see a very tiny baby.. my hormone levels were showing I could be 6 wks but the baby is so tiny they are not sure if im 6wks or not..... so I could be having a miscarriage and that explains the pain..... or i could be having round ligament pain....they couldnt say either way..... im praying the baby is just not that far along and is why they cant hear the heart beat..... I dont have insurance and im trying to get on medicaid so I can see an actual obgyn.... has this ever happened to anyone? Please help im so diacouraged....

I'm just wondering, did you know you were pregnant before the ultrasound? If you did, how far along did you think you were?

If the ultrasound said 6 weeks I'd believe that, the measurements are pretty accurate at that point I think. As for not seeing/hearing a heart beat, it's still early. I know it's stressful, but it really may just be too soon. I hope you get some answers soon

Well I thought I was at least 8 wks..... they said they thought 6wks...... and my hormone level would have seemed accurate to 6wks...... but they did say they could be off the baby is to tiny to tell..... I was told to come back in two days to check my hormone levels to see if they are progressing or not

For me this situation ended badly. But I'm sure there are lots of women whose dates have just been out and it all good.
I hope it's ok for you. Good luck

Sorry to hear you are going through a stressful time. Unfortunately with something like this its a waiting game as there is no way of knowing which way it will go at this point, only time and the test results will tell. Its good that it was visible in the uterus though.

I mean is it normal to not hear a heart beat at 6 weeks??? I know the doctors always have to give you the worst but it seemed all they were saying was miscarriage. ...

    Re: Worried!

I had the doctors tell me I was likely miscarrying at 8w, and I'm still pg at 12w - had cramps and bleeding. We were able (just) to see the baby and the heartbeat the day after they told me that we just had to wait and see.

Were your cycles regular before you fell pg? Also, when did you get your positive pregnancy test? I was about 2 weeks "behind" the whole way through my first pregnancy because they went on LMP rather than scans, all of which showed that I wasn't as pregnant as they were thinking (so at 8w from LMP I was only about 6w too). This time I'm only a day behind yet they still adjust my edd.

    Re: Worried!

Yes my periods are always irregular my LMP was july 28th however i took 3 positive pregnancy text on 9-13 so today is when they said it appears im 6 wks.... I do have an ultra sound scheduled tomorrow at tge hospital they said to keep the appointment...it worries me because its a free clinic until I recieve medicaid. So im not sure it will be different... how far along were you when you heard your babies heart beat?? Did you have any pain at all?

    Re: Worried!

Couldn't hear the heartbeat at all at 8w, but did see it on U/S. Just. They spent a few minutes looking for it. Still haven't heard the heartbeat and all was well at the NT scan yesterday. And I did have quiet a bit of pain, cramping style pain like pre-period pain, for about 48 hours.

A BPF on the 13th of September means you may only be about 7w now. There's about half an inch difference in sizes, and if the baby wasn't easy to see on the scan then they may not have been able to measure the longest measurement. I know yesterday they had about 3-4 atempts at getting the longest scan, and I went from being 11+3 to 12+2, depending on how the baby was lying (awkwardly at first, so had to get the poor love to wiggle around). That's 3/4" difference in size.

With my first, I think I was well into the second trimester before they tried to hear the heart.
