Hi everyone,
I am 8 weeks 3 days and had a big bleed last week in the evening which sent me to A&E - we expected the worst after a miscarriage last year. There was no pain, just a lot of blood and one small clot, and we were so surprised and relieved to find during the emergency ultrasound that bub was there, heart beating away and having grown another centimetre since our dating scan a week earlier. The hospital ultrasound and a subsequent specialist scan the next day showed I have a 5cm x 3cm x 1cm area that the bleed came from, to the left of the gestational sac.
When I was in emergency they also found I was dehydrated and low BP so gave me a bag of saline as well. I had taken a long walk on a hot day the day previously and had developed a dehydration headache but thought nothing of it.
Since then I have had brown/red/pink spotting. There was still about 8ml of blood in the area that the sonographer said could come out or could be reabsorbed. My Gp said no heavy lifting and has me on hydralyte as my BP was still low again the next day. Repeat scan next week to see if area has increased or decreased in size.
Interestingly, with both of my previous successful pregnancies, I also had a small amount of brown blood at exactly the same time - 8 weeks - but nothing like last week with a gush of bright red. The sonographer thinks that perhaps the area the bleed cam from was placed close enough to the cervix that the blood was able to flow right out, where previous ones may have taken a while to get out hence the brown blood on those occasions.
I have read some of the past threads on here about this happening - the sonographer said it was a subchorionic haematoma - and most have positive outcomes. Just wondering if anyone is going through this at the moment as well?
It is so stressful, every twinge and feeling down there sends my heart rate right up.
