OK - so quick run-down... I was not ovulating due to POCS and my first visit to an Obs told me to lose weight, as for now, I could not fall preggers...
So I was on Jenny Craig and going well - then found out I was 7 weeks pregnant! YAY
Anyway - doctor told me it was ok to stay on Jenny Craig as I was overweight and you still get good food - just in moderation etc.
I consulted with my Jenny Craig consultant who said it was fine also.
Its been great because with my ALL THE TIME Nausea it makes life alot easier... ANYWAY...
Jenny Craig rang me today to say that I can no longer participate... my consultant told her boss I was pregnant (3 weeks after I told my consultant) and the boss rang me to say its not a good idea.
Well - I was very upset... and now I am confused!!!
I have NO problems with not being able to do Jenny Craig. I am happy to prepare my own meals during pregnancy and keep healthy
I am just upset that they tell me NOW and also, I am worried that I could have harmed my baby?!
Surely my doctor wouldnt have said it was OK if it wasnt?
I have my first Obs appointment tomorrow - thankgoodness, so I can ask him. But I cant help but worry now...
Sorry to blurt ladies, I dont want to tell my mum as it will just make her worry and my hubby flew back to work today, so I cant contact him either...
aghhhh
Try not to worry... I'm sure that it hasn't done your bubs any harm. They probably don't want you doing the program anymore just to cover their own bums.
Good idea to talk to your Ob tomorrow, I'm sure he/she will ease your worries.
Mrs BB - CONGRATULATIONS!!! on falling pg mate Especially with PCOS.
I wouldn't stress too much about having been on JC. I know that's easy to say and hard to do but here are my thoughts (bear in mind I haven't done JC but I have done WW and SureSlim in the past):
* It is real food, not shakes or energy bars
* It is probably a large part of the reason you fell pg - it wouldn't have happened if you weren't looking after yourself and eating well to ovulate in the first place!
* Babies survive horrendous morning sickness (eating next to nothing) and massive cravings for really bad food (fatty fried take away etc). They are pretty resilient and take what they need in terms of nutrients etc first before you get a look in. If anyone has been short changed, it was your body, not the babies!
* I think the advice you got from your doctor initially was probably sound. The JC people are probably being cautious against any future potential legal action because pregnant women aren't supposed to 'diet'.
* As long as you haven't been going hungry or thirsty the baby will be fine.
Good luck at your obs appointment tomorrow - hopefully they can settle your worries even more!
Stop stressing. They are probably just trying to cover their bums in case something goes wrong & you try to blame it on their diet. You wont have eaten anything that could've harmed your bub. Dieting is not normally recommended during pregnancy & that's probably why they've told you not to follow their program now.
THANK YOU ladies!!! You have put my mind at ease!!!
Its great food and you dont go without... I also prepared and ate fresh fruit, salad & vegies daily, as well as a good grain/fibre intake.
HUGS - what would I do without this wonderful forum!
Congrats on getting pregnant You've done better than I did in early pregnancy lol I could hardly eat a single thing, so you and your bub should be fine Especially with all that healthy food
I had the same thing happen to me - and what I was told is:
The calorie count is different to what a dieting person / pregnant person needs. So by eating the food required for a dieting person you are not getting enough needed to help support you during your pregnancy.
You would not have done any harm to your baby at all.!! Try not to stress hun.
