Mine was on the low side this morning too - 103/65. What was yours?
I have been feeling a bit "light" and I do have a tendency to get dizzy. I also had trouble with a blood draw on Thursday, which is unusual for me (hard to find vein, then collapsed, then got all fainty)
So I'm making a concerted effort to drink heaps, including a half litre of electrolyte drink every day to try to pump it up a bit. The electrolyte stuff helps the most, I think, because it's the same salt concentration as the blood, so it's a direct boost.
I had very low blood pressure for a few weeks at the begininning of the third trimester. I had spots in my eyes, tunnel vision, and very dizzy any time I got up, or stood up. It was horrible..no one seemed concerned tho, but i was. It has since gone back to normal, but my iron levels are super low. I have had 4 jabs in the bum, with 1 more to go. Yay, the joys!
All the Dr's tell you to do is rest, drink water and eat more red meat, oh and increase your salt levels in your cooking too apparently. Good Luck!
Sorry you feel so icky Apes. It's not fun. It's because of the extra blood volume. The other suggestions are fantastic. Make sure you keep your fluid intake right up there and if you do add salt, use iodised salt. I'd definitely recommend having a chat to your MW about what's happening to see if she has any suggestions. The good news is your iron levels are ok, but I'd make sure that they keep monitoring it in case it does dip down. My BP was usually on the low side with both my pg but my MW was never concerned about it. Hope you feel better soon xxx
I had very low BP in the last trimester (90/45) and had some dizzy spells and funny turns at work - luckily I work in a hospital and could lie down with my feet up when this happened and was surrounded by nurses.
It's no fun, but better to have low BP than high.
I made sure that I had some food handy when I felt dizzy - this usually helped.
Re: Anyone else have low blood pressure during pregnancy?
In my last trimester my midwife couldn't believe that my BP was 70/40.. She couldn't believe I was still standing! I have low blood pressure all the time though, usually 90/60. I rarely feel dizzy though...
sorry to hear your feeling average. i have had low blood pressure since about week 15 of my pregnancy and i also have low iron levels and an high pulse rate (99-105bpm resting) so i tend to get puffed out putting a load of washing on!! my MIL who is a midwife recommended red meat, powerade or gaterade and low impact exercise as other people have said. the powerade and red meat have helped me but i have to say im not sure if the exercise one works
hope it gets better!
