RLT is a uterine toner, so it aides the efficacy of uterine contractions before during and after birth.

The tea tastes like dirt, so if you can get tablets get them instead.

I actually didn't mind the tea...it's better with a teaspoon of honey. The tablets are stronger though. And if you have any leftover after bub arrives, it aides in the production of breastmilk as well.

I quite liked the taste too I tried the tablets as well but you have to take so damn many of them, I eneded up drinking the tea....and went into spontaneous labour the next morning (at 38+5).

I thought RLT also helped to ripen your cervix but I may be wrong. Anyone?

So if it helps the efficiency of contractions, is it safe to say that it may reduce the length of labour?

hi hon, my acupuncturist told me to stay away from rasp leaf tea. He said it may benefit some woman but def not others. I'd ask a Chinese Herbal medicine therapist 1st before taking it. FWIW I had a 3.5 hr labour without it, instead i was taking herbs my therapist put together just for me and my body throughout the whole pregnancy.

It could, but it may not I had a 9 hour labour but as DD was posterior, it was longer than it should have (could have?) been. In saying that, I dialated really quickly and birthed really well. It was DD being posterior that 'held things up'

The length of your labour tends to come from your mum's side. My mum's side all had quick labours (from 30 mins to 4 or 5 hours - quick!) so hopefully I'll be blessed with a speedy one next time. My sister had really quick labours and took RLT but I have a few friends that had long labours and were induced despite taking RLT. Like Cherished said, it doesn't necessarily work for everyone but hey, there's no harm in trying
