Which bottle brand to choose?

I think it depends on what your bub will want actually.

Both my kids have preferred the Pigeon ones - but DS would take the avent ones, DD wouldn't take the avent or tommee tippee ones.

I have found that babies have preferences, so sometimes you have to buy a couple to try out (unfortunately!)

i use Avent. I like them, but wont use them next time as they tend to leak.

I found DD likes the Tommee Tippee ones, they look kind of like a boob and she seemed to prefer those at the start but we bought about 4 different brands and now she uses Nuk or the TT, once she realised it was food she didn't care out of either of those.

Good luck with B/F it's an amazing experience and i hated when i had to stop due to an operation and complications afterwards that meant a lengthy stay in hospital without my DD.

I have quite a few brands - some new and some from my DD (who NEVER liked the bottle at all!). I have avent and some other weird brand and this time I have bought Nuk and another similar type that are both made from the BPA free stuff. I got them because they both seemed softer than the others and seem easier to use - no idea though until I try!

I used a mix of bottles. I like Avent for the wide neck and the teats, but a friend told me once that her child's speech pathologist hates them because of the teat shape. I am still going to use them for our new bub though, because I like them. I also used the cheap 'happy baby' bottles and they are great, tommee tippee standard neck, nuk (but my babies hated nuk teats, so won't be using them again), Big W brand cheapo bottles...As far as teat shape goes, I don't think there are any that are 'better', it just depends on your baby. A lactation nurse once told me that they tend to prefer just the standard, old fashioned shaped teats - not sure why exactly, I think it's perhaps because there is no real evidence to prove that wide neck or orthodontic or anti-colic teats are any better for babies than the standard ones - despite the marketing claims.

I haven't used any bottles of any kind as yet but thought I should point out that most 'plastic' bottles in Australia contain BPA (a 'bisphosphonate') a susbtance which has been BANNED in other countries such as Canada. BPA leaches into the milk and can cause hormonal problems in infants.
Whatever you do look for BPA-free/bisphosphonate-free bottles - there won't be many unfortunately - so far I know Medela (sp?) do one, I think Avent have started doing them and so do a brand called 'Green-to-go'. Glass bottles are also BPA-free. I'm planning on having having some BPA-free bottles on hand for expressed breast milk (fingers crossed the actual BF goes well!)

I always used the cheaper happy baby branded ones. DD had no problems drinking out of these. My SIL uses Avent and seems to like them.
