My wonderful and somehow aweful craving!!!

I HAVE TO HAVE POP TARTS!!!!

My god do you remember those sweet apple and cinnamon crunchy breakfast cereal type thingies..... that burnt the inside of your mouth because you couldnt wait till they cooled down before you ate them. Or when you used to come home and eat the straight out of the packet without even toasting them.......

It is so unfair. Pop Tarts are exclusively sold in America these days. We did however find an American Food shop about an hours drive from us however they are often out of stock and we just do not have the time to be driving down there every weekend.

I've heard of people craving Goji juice!! That comes exclusively from New Zealand (I only know what it is because my best friend got sucked into reselling it and we have 3 cases of it left at home- if anyone is interested PM me)

Really I just wanted to know, Ebay sellers charge $18 postage plus $9 a box of pop tarts, can anyone else help me??? (My DP is looking for Dr Pepper too :ms: Blergh- I think I started this whole American thing now )

My first preg I just had to have whatever I saw - in a magazine, on the telly.
I actually cried when I saw a popcorn machine in a magazine once - it was 11pm and to late to get any....

I was so mad when pop-tarts dissapeared! My dh used to take them to work on his early shifts. Can't help you there sorry. Noticed you're in melbourne - there used to be a small lolly shop in Lygon St, not sure if it's still there as I moved a few years ago, but they used to sell Dr Pepper, Hershey Bars, etc, so might be worth a try?

My cravings are for Sui-Mins - you know those awful dried noodle things? I haven't had one since I was about 15 but now I want one every afternoon!!

LOL! I really hope you get some poptarts!

Lulu I can relate to wanting what you see on tv etc, and crying over it, as I have done both. Right now I want KFC, as I've been watching the cricket an aweful lot! Aout 2 weeks ago I cried because all I wanted was roast beef and roast potatoes and gravy!

Try some of the "sweets" shops. We have a shop here called "sweet tooth" or something similar. It has all the American & English foods & drinks, including pop tarts, Dr Pepper etc. I will try to get there today & see what they charge & if they aren't too expensive I'm happy for you to buy them through me & I can post them to you. That may end up costing a bit??? But if not, if you're happy to do it I'm happy to help. I know it can SUCK really craving something that you just cant have!!!

I'll get some prices & see if they will post like a carton of them or something lmao

USA foods had heaps last time I went there. You could always call them to make sure before you go there, or before you order online & then they send them via Austpost.
I love brown sugar & cinnemon flavour!!

Thanks guys, we are going to make a trip over to the American Food Shop in Bentleigh on the weekend. I wanted to order online (although it can be a little pricey but not as bad as buying direct from the US) but the only ones they had that weren't 'out of stock' were Apple Cinnamon and Choc Fudge. I'll take 10 boxes of the Apple Cinnamon but I alos really wanted the Strawberry Frosted. At this point any flavour Pop Tart will do!!! Waiting till Saturday is just sooooooo hard LOL.

oooooooooooooooh. I keep trying to tell myself that desire is the root of all pain. that Buddhist stuff just doesn't work too well against pg cravings.

I did cry in the grocery a few weeks ago. I'd been wanting some Cuban black bean chili that I used to make all the time when lived in Texas. Full of vitamin C, protein, fiber, so much good stuff, so tasty, and comfort food. I was dying to make a huge pot of it and suck it down with some cornbread. Some of the ingredients were heaps more expensive here but DH loves my Americas cooking and doesn't mind. But there-just-weren't-any-black-beans. I really tried hard, but I did start crying right there in the bean isle. It hadn't even occurred to me I might not be able to make it. Still haven't found any, but I do keep my eyes open. I think I'd step over my grandmother's dead body for a huge pot of B.Bean Chili. I tried using borlotti beans, I hate kidney beans, and pinto beans weren't right either. Ick. We did find cornmeal at a health food store, so at least I can have cornbread. And I've been craving *REAL* mexican/south american food too so I've had to learn how to make it from scratch.

Sorry to whinge so much, but aside from missing my mother, not being able to cook my usual foods has been the hardest part of moving here. I never feel so far from everyone as when I start salivating for some goat meat tamales right from the steamer.
