    Can I eat these?

A few foods Im not sure about. Can we eat:

    Yoghurt?
    Sour cream?
    Cottage cheese?
    Cream cheese?
Mayoniase from the supermarket? Do they all have whole eggs in them?
    Pavlova?
Ham on a pizza or toasted sandwich?
Burger with lettuce/ salad on it from Maccas or red rooster?

    thanks to anyone who knows!

Do not quote me on this but:

Yoghurt - yes (great source of calcium and good for heartburn and thrush!!!)
Cream Cheese - yes, I read somewhere the yes and no cheeses and cream was a yes. I wanted to make a cheesecake so wanted to make sure I would be ok about ricotta, cream cheese and marscapone so I hope it was ok LOL

Cottage Cheese - I may seem a litle ignorant but is it in water?? If it is then its a no

    Sour Cream - good question

Pavlova - I argued about this with my chef friend - she says yes because it is cooked egg, I said no coz the cooked part is only on the outside so it will be interesting to see what others say.

Ham on Pizza is cooked as long as it is cooked very well go for it.

Not to sure about the rest so Ill let someone else answer for you.

People have differing opinions on some of these so this is my take!

    Yoghurt? It's fine!
Sour cream? Pasteurised so it's fine.
Cottage cheese? I never eat it but I'm pretty sure it is pasteurised too
    Cream cheese? Fine!
Mayoniase from the supermarket? Do they all have whole eggs in them? If you get whole egg mayo then no, but if it is just your basic Kraft mayo then yes, because it is heat treated... I eat it, others avoid it if they haven't just opened the jar and eaten within 12hours. I think as long as its not the good stuff then its fine to have a little on your sandwich etc
Pavlova? MMmmmmm not sure about this one but if it has any raw egg then no, I thought it was pretty well cooked?
Ham on a pizza or toasted sandwich? Steaming hot is fine.
Burger with lettuce/ salad on it from Maccas or red rooster? Mmmm I don't get burgers with lettuce so Im not sure but there could be a slight risk as the lettuc probably sits there for a while before they make it... maybe ask for no lettuce??

    Good luck!

UHT = ultra heat treated, so maximum pasteurisation there!

For a full list of can and can'ts see the Food Standards Australia website here.

    All of the above YES
    UHT Milk -YES

The things you need to look at with dairy is: is it pasturised? So no SOFT chesses, no French chesses, goat, brie, etc.
The whole eggmayo will be labelled as such, the normal (Praise, Kraft, ec) Mayo is not egg mayonaise.
Make sure your salad is washed, and try not to eat fresh ham, salami, etc, ESPECIALLY salamis, because of the way they are nade and what they are made from. Its pretty gross actually! lol And they are huge risk of infection.

Holy - yeah I got wicked cravings for maccas chicken burgers for while lol
If you go fast food, esp chicken, you can tell them you are pg and get them to make it fresh, and make sure its cooked properly, they are really nice about it too

It's so hard to know what is right or not... all these bl**dy restrictions!!!!!

I eat all of the above! Well, I do now...!
At first I was pedantic about no lettuce on burgers or anything like that... but I always eat that kind of thing so I figured if I was going to get listeria (sp?) I'd have gotten well before now. Just use common sense, cold burgers when they should be hot is really not healthy for anyone... That's the way I think about it. Plus my body (and supernose!) usually tells me if something isn't right.

BTW... I'm sure I'll send some people into a panic but I craved Subway for AGES and I have been eating it from about 14 weeks on ... Bubble is fine and strong in case anyone is wondering!!!

Most things are fine as long as from a reliable source.

I must say thought i asked in red rooster fro me to make me a fresh rooster roll and they refused and said no they were all made yesterday morning and we wont make any more till tomorrow.

Maccas is great at adding and subtracting what you do and dont want!!!
