We have both always discussed only having 2 kids. And while i'm happy and comfortable with our decision part of me doesn't want to make it absolutly final.
Dh is wanting to have a vasectomy after this baby, but i'm not sure i want to make it this final. I know the pill isn't 100% reliable (DD was conceieved while on the pill) and although we used condoms after she was born, neither of us are that excited about using them. I'm happy to look into other forms of contraception eg - injections etc but don't know about thier effectiveness etc.
Was your DH determine to have it done? how did you feel about it? How did you approach this situation.
Maybe research the other options and give him the facts (falling pregnant after a vasectomy can happen too)! M is COMPLETELY opposed to a vas, so much so that I think it's hilarious... because so many of his workmates etc have suggested it, and it appalls him So can't help you there, sorry! But even though we're currently entertaining the possibility (or probability) of a third, after that I will consider long term contraception, not sure what yet, but probably implant.
We too had spoken about how many children we would have from very early on in our relationship, we decided that 2 children would be wonderful for us. So a few years later we had our DS then we lost one at 10w4d and then along came DS2. I had been on the pill but it made my periods terrible so we both decided to go off the pill and use other methods as a pre-caution and we alwasy said if anything happened then so be it we would never ever consider terminating the pregnancy should i ever fall pregnant again .....well guess what im now 22weeks pregnant with our third bubba and to be honest it was a massive shock to begin with but now we are sooooo excited and cant wait to meet our bubba in April. This will be our last baby and DH has said he will get the snip now which i am totally fine with as i know deep down 3 is it for us!!!
Sorry this reply is so long but i just wanted to share my very recent experince with you.
