I am not sure about laying on your tummy but i am around the same as you time wise and have felt bubs on and off, i had my scan yesterday and everything seems ok, good size etc.

I think it's only a worry once your feeling them every day and then they stop for more than 24hrs, hope that helps and GL with the rest of your pregnancy.

Maybe ring the phsyio and ask them if they have an upright chair etc they can do things on, i got a pregnancy massage the other day and OMG it was amazing, odd looking chair and position but it was wonderful.

Yeah i tried cold water and stuff but nothing so maybe she just doesn't wanna be active for me at the moment, don't stress yourself i think 18-20wks is normal before you EVER feel anything anyway.

Yeah i think Ava is going to wake soon, has been teething so going to let her sleep aslong as she needs for now, wake her at 5 if she's not awake then..

Good luck and maybe chat on bellybuddies, would love to see an update from you when you get a chance.. keep in touch.

I laid on my tummy right up until I couldn't anymore ....I doubt it would do any damage unless it was causing you discomfort and you continued to do it ...

my chiro has a table that he drops the tummy section out of - started dropping it around 25weeks i think

as to movement - my ob told me that after 28 weeks, if you dont have 10 movements in 24hours, speak to care provider. by that stage they are more cramped in there and things like placenta position stop impairing the sensations

i lay on my tummy til v close to the end... when i couldnt!!! i think it is more for your comfort than anything else. your physio should be able to pad around you with pillows etc which will help. some also have beds for preg women with holes in them.
i wouldnt worry too much that you havent felt her for a while - i never had consistent movements until a bit later... one here and there and then nothing for a few weeks.
    good luck!

I think you can lay on your tummy as long as you are comfortable. I'm still comfy on my tummy and often sleep that way. Won't be as comfy when the bump gets bigger though which is when I use my body pillow and I can kinda of lay on my side/tummy and lean my belly against the belly.

I'm a little ahead of you and I'm still comfy on my tummy. From memory I can lie on my tummy till about 36 weeks - all the fat I have makes good padding

My chiro has special cushions different sizes for the further along you get that take the pressure off the baby.

I am going to the phsio weekly and have been since 20 weeks - my hips are trying to fall off!

I still lay on my tummy BUT only while supported by 8 pillows. My phsio always sets me up and then makes sure she can get her hand under my belly - its ok for it to touch the bed but not for me to be resting on it. I dont want to squash bubs.

I had a preg massage the other week and they had a bed with the tummy section cut out for bellies! It was great. Far more relaxing than trying to keep the weight off my belly.

I have the opposite question. When can you no longer lie on your back?

Hi Philsmum, I spoke to my chiro about sleeping on your back as up until about a week ago it was the only position I could sleep in.
He told me you will know when it's not right to sleep on your back, and that it may be ok for you till full term.
Your body will let you know eg: pain, numbness, pins and needles, nausea or just discomfort.

    Thanks Willow.

Is there a reason that we can't lie on the back in regards to the baby?

It's been 4 years since I was pregnant and I can't remember anything I want to.

I think the theory is that the weight of the baby/uterus/placenta/amniotic fluid etc can squish certain veins/arteries nerves etc.

I guess worst case scenario would be restricting blood flow but your body should let you know and you'll turn yourself onto your side.

My chiro also said to think about people that aren't pregnant eg: men who might have a huge beer belly, plenty of them sleep on their back without causing too many problems with blood flow or the like...maybe snoring is a prob
