    Food Aversions

    Hello everyone again,
I was wondering what can cause food aversions? I'm a meat eater and love beef and chops (ooo chops and mash yum!) steak, beef and blackbean noodles, bacon etc etc but lately (last 2 weeks) I just haven't been able to stomach the smell or taste of it. I know I'm not pregnant because I have a very light and short bleed last week (lasted for about a day and a half-2 days) at 5 weeks in my cycle, but all internet searches on strong food and smell aversions are about pregnancy. Surely there has to be another reason? I had a funny positive HPT (one of those squinters until past ten minutes then if became very clear but doesn't count because it was after the 10 -15 minute mark), but then AF rearer her ugly head. Any suggestions guys? I miss my beef and black bean noodles!

    Hi there Spuddle
Are you sure that it ws definitely AF and not implantation bleeding?
How long is your AF usually?
When I was first pregnant I couldn't stomach meat either and I love my steak and red meets.
Have you done another HPT since the last one??

Hi, my AF used to be every 30 days on the dot and last 7 days (before I went on the pill). Since I've come off the pill it's erratic but usually goes for 4-5 days. I guess I'm not sure it was AF in retrospect - i didn't really have any cramps or anything. I had a bacon sub this morning (norti norti, I know) and just couldn't stand the smell/taste of it and I mentioned to a colleague that the last couple of weeks I can't stand the smell or taste of meat and everything smells raw etc and she said that she had a similar thing when she was pregnant and i should go for another test. It's all I've been thinking about all morning now as I'd given up hope for last month. Never even consciously thought about the food aversion until this morning when my colleague mentioned it. I've gone and bought a test... if it's negative then I guess my taste buds are just playing freaky deaky.

Hi...i would definitely re test...your periods can do all funny things after coming off the pill but because it was considerably shorter than normal it is always best to double check. a lot of people i know had problems with foods esp meat in early pregnancy. i still loved meat but the smell of the raw meat made me feel horrid in the first trimester. good luck and hope it really is a bfp for you.

I had that for a month before i got pregnant then my love of the moo-meat came back full force about 3 weeks into pregnancy. I had a tummy bug before hand maybe it was my body saying it didn't want to digest such heavy food when I'd been sick. Hows your digestive system?
