Old wives tale. My midwife said it changes with how far along you are anyway (faster in the first tri and slower at the end).
So I was wondering does anyone really know if this is true or not - being the slower the heartrate its a boy and the faster it's a girl? Old wives tale or fact????

I swear by it.. but only for that very first dating scan at 6 weeks! It is just an old wives tale though but has been correct with my dd and last m/c, and I've been right with a couple friends! It's all just a bit of fun![]()
Old wives tale. Up until very recently my baby's heart rate has always been well over 140 and it is definitely a boy. Before we found out I let myself think I could be having a girl based on heart rate but nope he likes to show his bits so there is no doubt on the gender.
I thought higher/lower than 150 was the measure, not 140? Turned out to be true for DD. Who knows with this one. Rate was 165 at the 7 week scan, 155 at 12 weeks.
ill find out in 16 days..
at 7 weeks heart rate was 118 and at 16 weeks it was 145....
at first i thought girl, but im thinking boy now

After I had DD the midwife who was with me for early labour was happy to know she guessed right based on bubs heart rate being high (I wasn't told/cannot remember what it was) so when I had my scan at 12+5 wks & bubs heartbeat was 137 I immediately thought "yes! A boy" & then at our morph scan at 18+2wks the HB had increased to 144 so I was unsure (had already been having "I think it's actually a girl" vibes since 14wks & sure enough we're having a girl.
So now I'm not sure if it is just a wives tale??
It's been right for me 6 out of 6 times.
All my kids have been around 150bpm and I've got 2 boys and a girl
