So this seems like a silly question, but I have been wondering:
My jeans are getting too tight around my middle, now that I'm starting to show. They aren't horribly tight yet, and if I wasn't pregnant I wouldn't be bothered to go buy larger ones yet.
I want to put off buying maternity clothes for as long as I can, to save money.
Can tight clothes harm baby? I'm not talking super skin-tight, but "should buy new jeans sometime soon" tight, if that makes sense.
Hmm, I'm sure bubs will just make as much room as he/she needs and soon you won't have much choice about it! But the thing I'd be considering is how the tightness of the jeans makes your whole pelvis feel, KWIM? Sometimes when we squeeze into jeans that are just a teeny bit too cosy-fitting (and I'm sure we've all done that, pg or not!) it compresses the joints at the back of your pelvis and will actually alter the way your hips move when you walk!
Actually, that doesn't really answer your question, sorry!
I just got new jeans when mine were uncomfortable. I don't really think you'd be saviong money by leaving buying them till later - if anything you'll just get more use of them if you were to get them sooner?
Only joking. Just be aware that you can't really dawdle for too long, because you will have a few weeks where suddenly NOTHING fits. Often it will get really really uncomfortable just before you get to that point, so once the uncomfiness starts, go shopping!
As long as you're comfortable it's fine.
Probably in about another week or two, the decision will be out of your hands anyway and it will be off to the shops for you
I hate tight things on my tummy - even more so when I am preggers...
So even though I am only 6 and a bit weeks, my belly feels hard and my normal clothes are starting to feel a bit tight. I guess second time round by body is expanding already!
When you feel uncomfortable is the time to change pants!
I know how you feel - normal clothes are too tight and maternity clothes are too ridiculously baggy. Luckily I found that bcos over the years my size has fluctuated I was able to just step back up a size in my jeans so now am back in 12's but soon to go into a 14, then I'll do the maternity jeans. Maybe see if you can borrow some jeans from a GF who is a size bigger for a while - you won't be in them too long. I bought mat jeans w Jake's pg and my first pair spent waaaaaaay too much and they were sooooooo uncomfortable. My second pair were a cheap pair from pumpkin patch and were really comfy. If you can save money by shopping at DFO pumpkin patch and other mat stores - it is last season but that is usually when you will be biggest (if that makes sense) and you can pick up clothes pretty cheap but not too dowdy.
