    Leaking Urine *TMI*

At my last OB appointment I asked him to give me something because I'm not feeling very "fresh" lately. He prescribed a Betadine Douche ... although the package says not safe during pg, he assured me it's fine and better than the creams.

So after using it for two days, like he said ... I'm not smelling any better. Now when he prescribed me the stuff, he asked if it's not urine ... NO!! it's not ... I'll know when I'm wetting my knickers, thank you very much

But now I'm not so sure. I don't normaly suffer any yeast infections or stuff like that, so this is uncharted territory, but I do know how I'm suppose to smell and look like, kwim?? And something is not right.

I got my urine tested on Friday and the woman told me it's normal, just a bit acid ... so lay off on the tomatoes and pile on the water ...

OK, so my question is ... how do you know if you are leaking urine??? I can honestly say that I don't FEEL I'm leaking.

Do I need to talk about this to my ob again??

If you were leaking urine, you would probably be able to smell it at the end of the day I would think. Not sure, really, sorry!

    Could it be increased discharge?

Perhaps change undies a few times a day and wear liners to see if it helps.

My urine smells strongly anyway ... I'm embarresed to say this, but it makes my husband's "territory marking morining urine" actually smells nicer than mine!!!!

*****TMI***** The liners has a yellow'ish discharge on that makes me suspect me leaking urine. I change them a lot during the day, almost each time I go to the loo.

Hey i have the same problem *leaking urine part* (going to see urologist about it soon(

if it is leaking urine, increase your fluid intake (sounds weird i know but it might flush out some horrible stuff that might be irrating your bladder), try work out what your triggers are (i have wayyyyy to many hehe - walking, running, sneezing, etcetc) that way you can tell your OB, wear panty liners, or something more absorbent to keep you fresh down there. and do your pelvic flood excersises

HTH take it easy and see your OB about it

Thanks Cassie!! It's terrible to think I am not fully in control of my bladder!! I thought you only get this type of problem when you gave birth naturally. Could it be a temp thing? Just because bubba is jumping on me??
ATM I am soooooo guilty of not drinking enough water, but I am trying to get my intake up to the three liters I did before I got pg ... I think that being pg and going to the loo like a 1000 times a day makes me side step drinking water.

Ohhh pelvic floor excercises ... I'll try that ... DH might like that too

On the triggers ... that I would really have to consentrate on .. might be walking and laughing.

You can still have incontinence problems from a c/s due to the strain on the pelvic floor during that pregnancy.

It could also be gardnerella. It's common during pregnancy, and harmless so they don't usually treat it if you are pregnant (or when you aren't for that matter). It gives you a nasty smell & can also give a yellowish stain to your undies or liner. A swab test at the GP will soon tell you if it's that. If it turns out to be that it can come and go. You might have it for a few days then it goes away and comes back after a few weeks and so on throughout the pregnancy.

Did some google reading about that, because I did not know what it is ... I don't have that "fishy" odor, BUT I'm going to let my OB take a swab and test non the less.

    Thank you for the info

    Hi,
you can get bladder weakness during pregnancy as the hormones that work on relaxing all your muscles etc also work on your pelvic floor muscles therefore they become weaker. Pelvic floor excercises will help and maybe buy some pads that are designed for bladder leakage as they have odour control and are designed to cope with urine as it has a faster flow than blood lost during your period eg: tena pads (the cheapest place i have found them is chemist warehouse). Maybe get a referral from your ob to a physio who specialises in urinary inconinence they will give you pelvic floor exercises and specific advice.
Try not to worry about it though it is pretty common during pregnancy and after having your baby.
    Good luck

    Well.......
They physio's have told me that if you work hard on your pelvic floors etc it will resolve but my life has been very hectic since DD was born last july and am currently 24 weeks pregnant with no 2 so my saga continues at the moment.
Get the best advice you can eg physio, continence clinic etc and just do what they say.
I have my fingers crossed for you!!!

I have the same problem. I will go to the loo empty my bladder (well so I thought) and then sit back down only to feel a tiny bit of wetness come from the top of my V (I mean the top where the lips start). It smells like urine and it gets really annoying. I have only noticed in since being my third trimester. I mentioned to Dr and he said its due to hormones. I am going to have to wear panty liners from now on cause I feel paranoid.
On the pelvic floor exercises. I just bought a neat product called epi-no. Its a device that helps you exercise your perenial for child birth but it can also be used to train your pelvic floor. I just got it and haven't started using it yet. But am keen to improve my pelvic floor thats for sure. Google it and see what you find.

Puppies - that is exactly what happens to me too, but I don't ususally FEEL it ... when I go to the loo ... I just notice my pantyliner is wet.

I forgot to post on Friday, but I asked my ob just to check and see if there are any "bad' bacteria and NO .. I'm clean as a .. well ... as clean as I should be

He says it's probably due to hormones and the pressure that bubba is having on my bladder, being head down already. He also said that I don't need to worry and that I would stop leaking as soon as bubba is not in there anymore.

    Thanks for all your advice!!
