    Melbourne Ultrasound for Women?

Has anyone been here? Particularly the one in Hampton?

Ive got a referral for there and was wondering what they were like? What price did you pay? Thanks

Hi darl, I've been going there for years, the people there are lovely and Dr Vic Hurley who runs it is really nice. He let me come for free after my 20 week scan as DS had his cord between his legs and he couldn't tell me the gender. I'm pretty sure the scan was around $280 and I didn't get much back from medicare. They are very good and reputable, I don't mind spending the money

Brilliant. We went there with DS2 for the NT & 20wk scan. Dr Hurley is really nice. Poor man was devastated for us at the 20wk scan.
I think the scan is about $280 and you get $80 back. It depends if you've hit the safety net or not.

Specifically ask for Dr Hurley - he's one of the best. If you're doing the NT scan, get the bloods done at 10weeks. After the NT scan, we went for a coffee while they sent the NT results to the path, then we went back & Dr Hurley explained the overall results to us.

Thankyou both for your replies do I have to book way in advance? I will ask for dr Hurley. If I'm going to be that much out of pocket I guess I should

Tash: the ob has told me to have the bloods at 10 weeks

I'd book now so you have more flexibility of times. Just confirm Dr Hurley will do the actual scan.

I went there too with DD1 they were really good and the scans alot clearer than the hospital ones I found and they put it on DVD for us.
Call as soon as you get referal cause I think they do get quite booked up.

I have been there with all three of mine. Have been very happy. With Miss P I had a lady (aaahhhh.... can't remember her name!!) and she was fantastic. Dr H came in to double check the renal system at each US as my DS was born with renal problems (making any subsequent babies at higher risk).

If you are interested... They have been correct with gender each time and the told me with certainty that Miss P was a girl when I was 12 weeks 5 days pg.

I only went for 12 & 20 week scans, so no. Found out at 20wks.

Do you mind me asking, how many scans are you planning on having this time? Does your OB also scan? Just wondering for our possible next time.

I dunno if I had a doozy lady last time but I asked for a picture of the nub and she refused. Dunno why. She kept asking on and on why I was scared of placental abruption until df had to say dd was dead. She hardly said anything. I don't know where my placenta is, if it's low lying or anything. She didn't even calculate the hr. I was pretty disappointed. Maybe I expected too much. So that's why I'm thinking they won't bother even if I asked iykwim.

Um ob wasn't going to give me this scan but I asked. If its going to abrupt I want to know in advance I don't want a surprise which he said I can have as many as I want. So I'm requesting every 4 weeks until 36w. Oh and ob doesn't scan

Do you get to pick your films up for the doc, or do they send them for you?
I've always read my report when I could get my hands on it

Mmmm. I'd call and ask that Dr Hurley does the scans. Also, see if you can get them bulk billed.

We also now have a thing that's important to us when having scans. We want the dr to tell us, as they do the scan, what they're seeing and if they have any concerns. Dont leave us lying there for minutes wondering or referring us to someone else to give us bad news.

I dont know much about placental abruption or it's chance of reoccurance, but I have done a lot of reading on health in pregnancy and apparently diet plays a huge role in placental health. You may be interested in reading about the Brewer pregnancy diet.

From memory, there's a box you tick on the form you fill in about if you want to know the sex. If you dont get Dr Hurley, say upfront to the technician, we have had a previous loss due to placental abruption. We are extremely anxious, so we need you to tell us what is going on, including telling us the sex, hb, placenta etc. if you cant do it, get your DH to do it for you.

I called ob today to get us report they will send it to me. I got a DVD with the whole scan on it but it was kinda useless as she didn't look for it iykwim. Oh well whinge over. As long as they listen to me tomorrow.

Dr Hurley is doing my 20w scan. But he only works in he mornings and I had to book this one for later in the day so I don't know who is doing it. I ticked the form but the lady still went on and on about abruption and it was making me more anxious
