Red face My tummy is hairy...HELP!!

OK, so i've been wanting to ask for a few days but i feel a bit silly...but i've plucked up courage now, so here goes!!

I am just over 11 weeks pregnant and have had a very easy-going time so far. Hardly any pg syptoms which i am grateful for. Lately my tummy has grown a bit as have my bbs - but really only a little bit. But now that i have started naval-gazing i have noticed something... My tummy is getting hairy. AARGH. But before you freak out - it's only little hairs like on your arm, and although i have dark hair and black eyebrows, i am quite pale light skinned, and not very hairy!

What i want to know is....is this normal ??? Is there some pg hormone doing this to me??? (Or is it just because i've never really looked at my tummy so much before?)

I have no-one else to ask as no-one knows about our pg yet...it is still a secret for another week.

Thanks in advance for those of you who reply. Now you see why i was embarrassed to ask.

Jo - don't freak out - it is so totally normal. Watch out for the chin hairs too. You're right - it is most likely hormonal. Don't do anything to them unless you want to have to keep doing it, IYKWIM.

I have dark hair and pale skin too - we just notice it more!

Yep I had it to. But I did the worst thing - I shaved it BIG MISTAKE!!! It grew back darker and thicker it gradually went away and got thinner but make sure you don't shave it!!!

yep i have it too and sometimes it even hurts when things rub against my belly too much (like clothes) - DH tells me he gets this ALL the time LOL!! it is like a little bit of light downy cover now. I havent touched it.. and am hoping it just falls out after birth. My linea negra also goes up my whole tum, it is thin but darkish and long.. i have dark hair and olive skin...

Dont freak out, unfortunately it is a normal part of pregnancy for some of us 'lucky' ones. i had a lovely snail trail of thick long black hairs, they slowly fell out after the birth but i still have one left, im sur it will fall out eventually too. i never ever tried to shave, wax or pluck them out, i just thought id wait them out. They don't make you feel very attractive but they are very normal. i am not a hairy person either i barely even have any underarm hair.

I am a hairy person (arms, legs and the like) and still have a very hairy tum! But I am the only one who notices it - we women think other people notice every blemish or hair, but everyone else is too busy hiding their own blemishes and hairs or just admiring how great we look.

Thanks everyone - it's great to be able to ask 'silly' questions and have so many great answers from people who have been there before me. I thought maybe i had something going a bit wrong with me

I told DH, and he thought it was a great joke - he hadn't noticed of course!! He likes knowing that i have people to ask my questions to, otherwise i'd be stewing away on my own!

I promise i won't shave/wax/pluck etc. I'm not a belly-out kinda girl anyway - especially not in Melbourne at this time of year!

but everyone else is too busy hiding their own blemishes and hairs or just admiring how great we look.
Thanks Ryn - sometimes it's good to remind ourselves how insignificant (or invisible) our flaws are to other people.

if it doesn't go away after the birth pale skin and dark hair is perfect for laser hair removal.....

We always notice things on ourselves so much more, it is magnified 1000 times and point it out to someone else and they would not believe us...

I'm with Ryn....... I am hairy, hairy, hairy (and very fair skinned, so dark hairs can be seen from space. In fact Ryn can probably see them from where she is.) ......... but, I did grow a lot more hair when pg. My friend and I were pg together and used to show each other our bare bellies and marvel at all of the hair. I was giving my DH a run for his money.

As for my chin. I quite enjoyed being able to stroke my chin in a knowing manner when pondering things............har, har, har...........

I'd like to say it goes away, but I still seem to be waxing my chin.......sorry TMI.
