    Nesting vs Anxiety

As some of you may be aware, my anxiety is through the roof during this pregnancy.

I'm 15+2w and am so anxious today. Like we're not going to be ready for Beez. Like the house will never be ready or clean enough.

It's not really an urge to go through the baby clothes, more to just clean the house within an inch of it's life and get rid of ALOT of stuff we don't use/need.

We were planning to be in our own house within a few months but unfortunately that hasn't worked out.

Our house has no storage. It's old. I hate it.

Is it just anxiety or nesting?
    When did you start nesting??

I'm never going to be ready in time.

You'll be ready in time, it sounds more like anxiety, but could be a mix of both I suppose

Could be both hun but you can write a list of all the things you would like to get done before bub arrives and work your way through the list. It doesn't seem like a long time but if you set out goals for what you want to get done it will be a bit more achievable than looking at the big picture

Babies don't need alot- they can survive on milk, nappies & cuddles. You probably have a lot of things that you can use from Hannah for the new bub.

It is a good time to get cleaning and reorganisation done, but try not to stress out about it. If it is affecting you in your day to day life, maybe check out PANDA. There is this article too Ante-Natal Depression - Depression During Pregnancy

If it makes you feel any better, bub is due any day and we still haven't settled on names.

Sounds like a bit of both

FWIW I felt like crying yesterday because my house was a mess but I had to work in the arvo and I knew if I cleaned anything it would be back to a disaster zone by the time I got home from work.

I hope you can get things sorted without wearing yourself out, I can think of worse things than cleaning as an outlet for your anxiety

I'd say it's a bit of both. I am the same atm.

With DS I did start nesting right away so i know it's partly nesting. Even with my two miscarriages, as soon as I was pregnant I had to rearrange and clean.

However I am also anxious about possibly losing this bub too and so in an effort to keep my mind busy and also to try 'bond' with the idea of this baby I have been cleaning out cupboards, making piles of things to sell and advertising them etc.

I also have an old house with minimal cupboard space and the house is just way to cluttered! Lol.

So in answer to your question, it is probably both. At least you are being productive with your time and yes you will be ready. xx

I didn't have any nesting urges with either of my DDs but with this baby it hit me in a huge way at about 18 weeks. EVERYTHING had to be organised throughout the entire house. Circumstances got in the way of a lot of it getting done but I made some progress. I had an argument with my DH on Tuesday morning about something really pathetically stupid (on my part) for the baby's room and the result was that I just crashed in a huge sobbing, stressed heap with all the same thoughts going through my head that you posted.

I think with me there is an enormous amount of anxiety mixed in. I'm still worried I won't bring this baby home and that she wasn't meant to be, and that is definitely making me stress. Mix that with unrealistic nesting urges and it doesn't make for a pretty sight.

I hope you're feeling a little more organised and under control soon. Try to take a step back and I'm sure you'll see its not as bad or as desperate as you feel it is (and yes, please. Take my advice - I'm sure not using it )
