    New born baby sizes?

    Hi All,

There is prob a thread already on this somewhere, but i am just wondering on what the average new born clothing size is

I know all bubs are born different lengths weights etc, but i used to think 000 was the new born average size and anything under was for a tiny bub but i saw something the other day that said 0000 was the new born size ?

WE have all the different sizes here just in case, but i am just curious as to know most bubs go into from birth?

    cheers

M was born on the little size at 2.8 kg so 0000 was a little big. Now at 3 months he is busting out of the 0000 and well into 000 and 00 depending on the brands.

DD was 8lb 1oz when born and only wore bonds cosy cuff wonder suits (feet and hands fold over) and marquise singlet or t shirt suits until she was 7 weeks - granted they are stretched a bit but they also lasted that long.

she is still in most 000 outfits but some things are getting smallish and she'll be 16 weeks this week.

Just remember though brands vary considerably in fit so start off with a few in 0000 have a little in 000 just in case and see how you go from there.

That is what we did. We also got heaps of clothes as gifts once Mitchell was born so there wasn't a need to buy a great deal.

I had 0000 as the newborn size, but my DD was so tiny when born (2.56 kgs) that those swum on her. Fortunately we were given some 00000s as gifts afterwards and Mum came down and stayed and bought us some more. She was in 00000 for about 6-8 weeks.

It sort of depends on the baby. I would keep at least a few 0000s, even if bubs is only in them for a very short while.

Bonds wondersuits are fabulous, but they are tiny compared to other brands. 0000 probably is regarded as the 'new' newborn size now, but they grow so quickly that they really aren't in them for long. I would rather start off with 000 and know that they will get full wear out of it even if the sleeves are rolled up a bit LOL as opposed to buying clothes that fit perfectly that they will only wear for a short time.

    Hi Shell1

DD was 7lb 9 oz and 49cms. 0000's were pretty big and she had a few 00000's for about a month.

The big thing that I found was DD was a very hot baby! I had no idea, I thought all babies were the same temperature If she went to bed in a wondersuit she sweated to no end, so I found some lovely little nighties in a hand me down bag and they were fantastic!

    Enjoy your little one!

One thing I found with the terry clothe Bonds wondersuits was that the 000 was pretty much the same size as a 0000 brand of sleepsuits else where and they were also one of the first thing DD grew out of.
I had bought a gorgeous outfit in the UK as our leaving hossy outfit but had bought it in 0-3months - it was swimming on DD, so we had to roll the cuffs and legs up! It still looked cute though

Our little girl was 8 weeks in 0000 - they seemed huge at the start.
My nephew was in 0000 for about 3-4 weeks.

    Hey guys,thanks for your advise

was born 3.6k not sure what that is in pounds, and 50cm long, she fits into 0000 and they have room in them .

But some 0000 are way to big for her, its so strange how much one size can vary

Both my kids were in 00000 in the beginning, about a month. I had a boy (7lbs 14 oz) and a girl (6 lbs 11 oz). Both were within a week of their due date. Personally I liked having the 00000 clothes to show the kids off in something that actually fit them reasonably but they are out of them so fast so it's not really worth it to buy them, imo, unless you have a preemie. Since they only had a couple 00000 items, they were mostly in 0000 in the beginning.

    Re: New born baby sizes?

We had mostly 000 stuff, and just a couple of 0000 singlets. Bubs was born 3078g and 49.5cm, which is fairly average. Most of the 000 stuff is too big for her, except for the wondersuits which are all way too small. The brands vary so much it's ridiculous. I find the high-necked 000 stuff is a good fit - things with buttons on the shoulder, and the newborn nighties are fantastic. We have 5 or 6 onesies that fit pretty good (all 000) but only use them for going out.

The nighties are just so easy to use, they have elastic around the neck so they are high up to keep her chest warm, but don't choke her, and it's super easy to get to her nappy. They are 000 size but elasticated around the wrists as well so even though the sleeves are slightly too long, they stay in place. Highly reccommended!!

With DD i brought 0000 clothes and never got to use any of them she was 9 pound 6.5 (4.270kgs) so she went straight into 000 and lastest about 4 weeks in them.

DS was a little smaller 8 pound 11 (3.950kgs) and fit into a few 0000 clothes then straight into 000 hes now 9 weeks and moving into 00 for length.

Maybe grab a few 0000 clothes as they really do grow out of them really quickly. Also as someone else said bonds clothes are always smaller so grab the next size up in them.
