(I'm not even pregnant yet, so this is not from experience)
I heard that it was supposed to 'toughen' the nipple if you exposed them to the sun for a bit each day, for a couple of weeks before the birth. I would hope that they were using sunscreen because sunburnt boobs does not sound like fun!
