    Talking No Alcohol - ideas?

Okay so I've done three tests now all showing positive (this last one darker!) so I'm pretty convinced it's all good! - yay!! This time we want to keep it a secret till the 12 months - I know this may not be possible, espcially if I am sick again cause we'll be living with parents for awhile and they would prob notice!

Anyway I need your help again - any ways to show that I am still happy to have a drink and party when really I will be sipping non-alcholic beverages! I'm not a heavy drinker but I rarely say no to a wine when out for dinner or at a celebration and I think it would be really obvious if I did say no.

    Any cool ideas? Thanks!!

P.S. I'm a really bad liar so they have to be convincing ideas!! ha ha

    Ok, some options are:
    - say you are taking antibotics
    - say you just don't feel like it
    - take orange juice and say it is already pre-mixed vodka and orange
    - soak labels off the non-alcoholic wine (Maison I think it is called) and take that
    - have mocktails
    - say you are on a non-alocoholic cleansing diet

That is about all I can think of at the moment

Say you are on a detox to get ready for summer! No alcohol allowed. Also like the antibiotic idea.

I am all for the detox idea.

I was going to say that you could say you are on a weight loss program but thet may not work as you are going to get bigger.

You could always say that you lost a bet with DH and you are now the designated driver!

In regards to living with the parents and being sick. You could say that your doctor has said that you have a virus and are not allowed to drink whilst being on the antibiotics. Then you could just say you have gone off it.

I often order a mocktail when I go out with my gf's now (they know im pregnant) but I was sick of ordering soft drink or juice. On saturday i had 2 pina colada mocktails and people wouldnt have even known!

Make sure you keep us updated on how you go.

YOu could also order a spritzer (half wine half soda) and sip on it for the long haul. Have water there as well to drink mainly, then no one will suspect, and you prob won't even get through one drink, which would only be a half at most!

Or you could just say you don't feel like drinking. No real need to lie... my mum had her 40th celebrations when I was 6 weeks pregnant and I just said I didn't want to drink, and I can still have fun without alcohol (even better fun because you can be as silly and crazy as you like but theres no alcohol related embarrassment!). What kind of person is going to push you to drink if you've said no...? It's also not a lie, as you really don't want to drink while pregnant.

PS. If you ARE going to use antibiotics excuse, don't say you have a virus because you don't go an antibiotics when you have a virus

My friend did the detox thing. I drank the non-alchoholic wine and also drank soft drink and mineral waters out of wine glasses.

The other one I was going to do but told everyone early was just get my hubby to drink my glass to - you know accidently on purpose..

My favourite is having raspberry lemonade in a glass and telling everyone that it was a raspberry cruiser. Tip is still to have an alcoholic shape glass. You'll be surprised how little people actually pay attention to what you actually have in your glass. Also get your DH in on it too make always make sure it's you or him that get your drinks and keep your hand full with a glass so you can say no thanks I've already got one thanks when people offer to buy you one.

I used to say I just didn't feel like a drink. It didn't work. One person suspected I might be and one "knew" I was. Both said nothing til we announced it.
