    Question How much weight?

How much weight should you put on during yur pregancy?
I just spoke to a firend who is about 18 weeks and her OB has told her she is too fat and should have only put on 6kgs the whole time!

Is that right! Cause if it is I was way off last time I put on at least 20 kgs! Way too much I know but 6 kgs??????

Whoa... I think her OB is *ahem* just a little rude & out of line there!

I have gained 20kg with each of mine, including this one, no matter what I did really (although I didn't try & keep it off either iykwim)

every woman is different.. I would expect an OB to know this??!!

My GP weighs me each visit, has no comment, the hospital mids/ drs never weigh me. I figure they can see what kind of gain I have had & where it is going.

FWIW I know of very very few women who gain that little over their PGs.

I would have slapped the OB for saying that!

I guess it depends on your starting weight though. I think the "average text book" weight gain is 10-15kg. I put on 9kg all up with DS, I was all belly. This time I've lost 3kg so far, but I had morning sickness and gastro. It's different for everyone.

Well I gained 30kgs... severe aversions to most food.
My mother on the other hand who had twins gained 8kgs in total. For twins.
    It's different for everyone.

Thats what i thought and being her first she doesnt have any experience whith how her body will be. I am just so sad and angry a trained professional would make her feel so awful.

    Thanks girls!

Generally if you are already overweight, they don't want you to put on too much, as you don't need to put on the extra fat stores that some women do need.
If I was her I would ask to be referred to a dietician, I put on nearly 20kgs with my first pg, and it was weight i really didn't need to gain. With my second pg I saw a dietician and only put on 7kgs total and lost it all plus some when DS was born. It does sound like the ob needs to learn some tact though!
