Thanks for the replies ladies. I really wish I was one of these people who didn't have such a wild imagination. Unfortunately I can't help but think the worst. Monday can't come soon enough.

At age 41 I had a DS risk of 1/37. Mine was due to a bad NT measurement, my bloods were normal. An amnio was recommended to me so that's what I had. The hardest part about the whole process is waiting for the results. I recommend you keep yourself busy for the waiting time so that you have less time to think about it all. My amnio showed no abnormalities & sure enough that was the case when my son was born. Try to keep as positive as you can for now. There is no point thinking the worst, when it just may not be the case. I wish the best of luck for your CVS & also for the wait for the results.

    Thanks Satya,
They rang me today to go over the procedure etc for Monday and they said there is a fast-track result option which you can pay extra for. They didn't tell me the price and I'm sure its very expensive but I think thats an option that we will seriously consider.

Im sorry to hear this, I agree about the age factor too. Did the dr explain in detail about everything and do you have a booking with genetic counsellor? Im thinking of you and wishing you all the best for the CVS and hope everything comes back clear.

We had a high risk result - I am 39. Mainly due to my age. We opted for the Amnio as it was recommended as the most accurate.

We also went for the fast track results and got them the next day instead of waiting 10-14 days. It only cost us an extra $200.

Our results were an all clear! The risk of miscarriage are an average over all the procedures recorded world wide. That means it takes into account Dr who are not very skilled and ladies that are high risk for late mc as well.

We went with a very well respected OB who does the test all the time and has great success rates. It makes a difference if you are going to someone who does this routinely rather than rarely.

Good luck on Monday - take the early test option or you will go MAD waiting.

Rest up after too. I have had two anmio's now and have spent three days on the couch after each (DVD's and choc are part of the recovery) with only mild cramping and a bit of spotting with my first (when I was only 34! - good result there too).
