lol.. some people just cant keep their mouths shut! ur other kids are 8 and 11.. thats not that far apart. there is 16 years between me and my brother and i love it!
Ok. this is something I expect to be hearing a lot of when it comes time to share our news.
Oh really...??? Was that an accident????
Our two kids are a bit older (11 and 8) we are a bit older (35 and 40) and after the second one we spent a lot of time saying "no, thats it, two is enough for us". No one has a clue that we were TTC. Not even our two girls.
So I am going to need a variety of comebacks to suit every mood and who it is that said it. I know there are some very wittya nd clever people hear in BB land and I am hoping for some inspiration please!
I also expect to hear a lot of....
So, are you hoping for a boy this time?
Which I am, but I dont intend on spreading that from the rooftops.![]()

um comebacks... mayb if u say "nah we have actaully been trying for this one for about 6 years"... i reckon that would make them feel bad! lol ill go think of some more![]()
"No, we meant to have sex!"
"What I'm really hoping is that people will stop asking me if I'm hoping for a boy!"
Ohh I love that!! It's like a big fat
I can just imagine the looks on faces if you were to say that ... isn't it funny how people feel it's OK to make comment on really personal issues, but if you start to share a little bit TMI for their comfort they run for cover
As for the boy question .. I think I read someone recently who was telling anyone who asked what they were hoping for "An elephant" or "A puppy" or "An alien" I thought that was a fabulous way of avoiding the question!!
I still can't believe people actually ask this question. I think it's really rude, I would never ask anyone!! And it's no one's business!! Only one person has asked DH and I think he just said 'of course'. I think they asked because we're young (although we've been married for 3yrs) so doesn't matter what age there's still rude ppl around!! lol.
I think I'd be so cranky being asked that I'd just say 'Of course not but it's none of your business anyway, I hope you don't go around asking other people that question'.
Hehe...I got asked about my last pregnancy being an accident a lot as my other kids were 15, 13 and 8. I just said "well, we don't know what happened, we haven't quite worked out what causes it yet". LOL.
when people asked me what i was hoping for, i used to say a giraffe - they get up & run around within hours of the birth..
As for the age gap - just say you where waiting for your DD's to get old enough to babysit so you can go out clubbing.
First: "No, we know how babies are made."
Second: "I don't think we really get a say now, so we'll leave it up to the baby."
I would just be upfront and say
a) NO! (in a manner that simply brushes them off)
b) Yes we would love a boy, but we will love it no matter what happens.
How about "Yes, we're hoping for a boy... or a girl. One of those two would be great!"
1) our tv broke - holy crap - look what happened!!!
2) we are hoping for just the one set of genitals - either will be good - both not so good
I love the 'nope, we do know where babies come from' or 'must have been an immaculate conception we think' or 'yep it was an accident...he just slipped in whilst in bed one day'
And for the second question say 'as long as it looks like DH and not the post man then I'll be happy and relieved' in a secretive tone if DH is nearbyor 'hoping for a puppy...they are so cute and cuddly'
You'll always get someone making a comment...usually its just to make conversation and they don't really think before they say it.. Sort of just automatic.![]()
lol DP just said say "it was sort of an accident, i got in the bath too soon after DH got out and smack bam.. there u go!" just made me laugh![]()
I was thinking along the same lines as Hollye, Back in the day my mum thought if you went for a swim in the same pool as a boy you could get UTD.... So you could tell them that you went swimming and a mth later you were UTD....
OR
You could turn it around on them and say in a very shocked voice.... " What people still do that I didnt think anyone was still silly enough this day and age to have Accidents...
as for the sex just tell them you are hoping for a baby that looks like your DH as your not sure who the daddy is LOL that will get them talking.....
When I got PG with DD2 everyone knew that BHL HAD only wanted two.... So when we turned around and got UTD with her I got alot of so did you trick him questions.... or the most annoying one is BHL happy about it!!!! Grrrr it really annoyed me as we wanted this baby and we BOTH had decide to TTC her we just didnt think we had to tell everyone that we were TTC... I guess next time I will have to ring up everyone and tell the days we DTD just so they dont feel left out of our Private lives...
