Unhappy pregant with what drs says is glandular fever

i have had glandular fever before, is it a re accering thing? dr said there is two things that can give the symptoms of glandular fever but did not go onto to say what the other was but yes i have been reading...CMV it could also be. I have had bloods taken so will be hoping on results from this for peace of mind. I hope everything is fine and sorts its self out

    fingers crossed.

Oh no you poor thing . I have had glandular fever before and have never been so sick in all my life. I was told at the time though that you can't get it again once you've already had it ? But maybe I was told the wrong thing.

I hope you feel better soon .

i had glandular fever when i was 16 and took me a good 3 years to get over it completely
and yes you can get again but it will be less sever and is usually just passed off as a cold or flu that wont budge.

    Hi Squidipa,

My husband has had glandular fever and drs told him that if you get very run down that it comes back but not as bad as when you first had it. He had extreme sore throat and fatigue. When he gets run down he seems to take a little longer to get over it.

Once you have had it once, they can't test you for it again - the test pretty much shows whether you have ever had it in your life. So the first tiem they can say "yeah you've got it" btu then after that they can't say for sure.
There's not much they do to treat it anyway, just get lots of rest and drink heaps of water.

I went to a homeopath, who put me on a few random sounding treatments, and I did recover very quickly. Included an Atkins-style diet, boatloads of Vitamin C, colloidal silver and some other stuff. But I could have just been one of those people that didn't get it too badly...

    Hope you feel better soon!

I've had Glandular fever, once you've had it it's not something that ever really goes away it lies dormant in your body so if you get stressed and run down it rears it's ugly head again.

The blood test will give a count or number which with a re-occurance can be hard to say if you're in the middle of a flare up or whether it's just coming into it or on the way down, so they might re-test, that's what my doc told me (hope that makes sense)

REST REST REST!!!! Easier said than done I know but it's the best thing eat well and get on a supplement if you need to I find Floradix good!

Good luck hope you're feeling better soon!!
