    Question Protein in urine

    Hi all,
Just been for my 29 week check and have been told I have a trace of protein in my urine. Question is what does this mean? Does it have anything to do with bp, sugar or what.

Look forward to any advice. Thanks

Rose, unless it is a high amount, it's generally nothing to worry about.

Concentrated amounts of Protein in the Urine can indicate Pre-eclampsia, but traces tend not to be a big deal. If your blood pressure is normal everything will be fine. It's when high protein & high blood pressure that it can be daignosed as Pre-eclampsia and become an issue.

Hi Rose, like Ashlea said, if it is just traces it should be fine. I had traces of protein in my wee plus I had high BP at the end of my pg and it was all ok (went on to give birth at 41 weeks without any dramas). Watch out for other PE symptoms like headaches and seeing spots - just talk to your HP if you get any of these.
Its a bummer they didn't explain it to you at your appointment...
