I'm not too sure where to put this, hope its okay here.
I had a threatened miscarrage with my daughter early into the pregnancy (within the first 2 months), I had a little bit of cramping and a fair amount of bleeding. When it was happening, I was told there was a 50/50 chance. I was wondering if when this happens, it's actually normal for your pregnancy (but it's impossible to know at the time) or if you really did almost miscarry? Does that make sense?
I think they just call any bleeding a 'threatened miscarriage'. It's just the term they give it but if you go on to have a normal pregnancy I'd say it's just normal for you. I had spotting at 8wks which ended in m/c, but with this one I had spotting at 9wks (very scary!) and everything is fine!!
Just my opinion, based on no medical fact.....
I would say there are many reasons for bleeding during early pregnancy, a lot of them not miscarriage related, and so when you experience bleeding they probably won't know the cause at the time (if ever), and so they say that it could be miscarriage. So your threatened miscarriage was probably not a miscarriage that didn't fully happen, but something else.
Glad to hear it worked out ok for you
I had ALOT of bleeding and mild cramping at 7 weeks and bleeding which lasted for more than a week!! I felt for sure we had lost our baby - but no, now at 20 weeks all is fine. My last pregnancy - NO bleeding, no cramping, not even a brown spot at all....
the difference I think for me was this one was an IVF pregnancy and I had just come off a stim cycle and there was a lot of extra blood and mucus/whatever hanging around that just had to come out.....I am calm now to say that, but at the time...it was all very, very scary. I was told the baby was absolutely fine at the time, however the amount of blood was a concern because of where it was located and there was the possiblity of it damaging the planenta as the blood was flowing out...
I suppose there are just so many different reasons why bleeding occurs in pregnancy.
I am SOOO happy for you that all turned out OK. Who knows the mysteries of the female pregnant body and why this bleeding occurs in so many of us....I also have a friend who bleed like a normal period for the first 5 months so she did not know she was pregnant..!! Now she has a beautiful baby boy.
I had bleeding at 7wks and then a serious 'threatened misarriage' at 14wks, with lots of bleeding. But the ultrasound showed one happy baby, and the OB couldnt tell where the bleeding was coming from so they confined me to bed rest for 2 weeks and it was all smooth sailing from there. Its just one of those things I guess...
I bled from weeks 4-6 and thought I was having a funny AF until I started the vomiting . I have had no bleeding since and my MW called it a threatened miscarriage.
It does scare me though as I wonder if it means I could still be at risk but it just makes me more aware of little mans movements.
So it does mean that you're at risk? I think I should speak to a Dr about this, so I suspect they won't know either lol. They say that when a miscarriage happens, it's inevitable so it just made me wonder I guess.
